- VIEW.COM
-
- VIEW.COM is a simple document viewing program. It used to be
- found on disks from a now-defunct public domain and shareware
- copying service. It contains no copyright statement, so I assume
- that it is public domain. I provide it for reading Wssindex
- documentation-on-disk if you don't have a better tool (such as
- LIST by Vernon Buerg).
-
- Usage:
-
- VIEW filename
-
- VIEW does not accept wildcards; the full file name must be
- specified (drive and path are optional). To switch documents,
- you must quit and restart.
-
- The rightmost column of the screen displays either
- < ordinary text line
- + a line too long to display
- . beyond the end of file
-
- Bottom line of the screen displays a menu of keys to control
- viewing:
-
- Escape - exit program
-
- PgUp/PgDn - move through text a screen at a time
-
- +/- - move through text half a screen at a time
-
- Up/down arrows - move through text a line at a time
-
- Home/End - move to beginning or end of document
-
- Number - single digit n moves to 10n% of the way through
- the document. For example, 5 moves to 50%, i.e.
- to the middle of the document.
-
- P - prints current screen and any following lines
- displayed. Hit P again to stop printing.
-
- Scroll lock - toggles continuous scrolling of text. There is no
- control of speed, and it's probably too fast on
- most machines.
