- ATTENTION:
- ----------
-
-
- In past releases of Stowaway, the Stowaway files HAD
- to be located in \STOWAWAY. Now, Stowaway looks for the help
- files and the indexes in the directory where STOW.EXE is
- located. This means that if you want to continue using the
- indexes from previous versions of Stowaway, you must either put
- STOW.EXE in the \STOWAWAY directory, or copy the indexes to the
- location of STOW.EXE. If you have any questions, PLEASE call us
- at 714-352-2820.
-
- Changes in Stowaway version 1.20:
- --------------------------------
-
- Fixes:
- Stowaway did not properly save the indexes to disk when
- using an alternate ID. This posed no threat to the
- integrity of the data.
-
- When using the automatic disk formatting capability,
- Stowaway did not properly display the format message on
- the second disk.
-
- Archiving in auto mode would abort before completing.
- All data was intact and unthreatened though.
-
-
- Chages in STOWAWAy version 1.30
- -------------------------------
-
- Fixes:
-
- If F3 was pressed to perform a DOS command, and then the
- user press ESC, Stowaway did not reupdate the help which
- resulted in an old help panel being displayed next time
- F1 was pressed.
-
- The main menu "Print order form" used two hotkeys that
- were the same: Ltp1 and Lpt2.
-
- While formatting a disk, the displayed cylinders
- formatted was 1 off - this was a cosmetic change only.
-
- Group names are now sorted case insensitive.
-
- While in manual file selection, directories that had
- numbers as names sorted above the <PARENT> and <ROOT>.
-
-
- Enhancements:
-
- Some users expressed a desire to be able to toggle the
- textured background on and off. This is available in
- the "Set alternate colors" menu. Also, shadow colors
- are switched to black if textured background is off.
-
- Stowaway now provides a facility to view the files which
- have been archived. This enables the user to quickly
- and easily verify what files have been archived.
-
- While selecting files in archive file selection,
- STOWAWAy "remembers" the location of the highlight bar
- if you switch to an alternate directory. Then, when
- returning to the original directory, the highlight bar
- is returned to the original location.
-
- If files are tagged for archival, and ESC is hit,
- Stowaway will confirm the action.
-
- Added a menu option in the utilities to display archive
- statistics. This options shows active, deleted, and
- expired files, compression ratio and more.
-
- When tagging a directory, the "Yes No" prompt was not
- standard. Changed to the button type "Yes No"
- message.
-
- Added F1=HELP reminders to all the headers.
-
- WordStar conrol keys are now available in all file
- selection screens
-
-
- Version 1.4
- ------------
-
- Fixes:
-
- The instructions on the restore screen were somewhat
- confusing. In this version, the information has been
- organized better.
-
- File sizes in file selection screens are right
- justified, to increase readability.
-
- If Stowaway detected a bad file during verification, it
- acknowledged the error and terminated with the message
- "All files verified OK." Despite this error, Stowaway
- still verified the files correctly and identified bad
- files.
-
- When verifying files twice in one session, Stowaway
- bypassed the disk mount message and began to read the
- disk without verifying that a disk was mounted.
-
- Enhancements:
-
- In any file selection screen, PGDN, PGUP, END, and HOME
- no longer "scroll." The screen instantly displays the
- desired line. This results in a tremendous speed
- difference when scrolling.
-
- In all file selection screens, 'T' tags all files and
- 'U' untags all files.
-
- While selecting files for archival, Sort by Extenstion
- is now available.
-
- In the archive file selection screen, F2 toggles the
- "Reset archive Attribute." This is designed so that
- Stowaway can turn off the DOS archive attribute, and
- effectivly "backup" a file.
-
- Version 1.5
- -----------
-
- Fixes:
-
- Stowaway had problems restoring files archive on an 8088
- class machine. The data was intact, but at times got
- CRC errors on restore.
-
- Enhancements:
-
- Input/Output is now buffered in archive and restore.
- This translates to better performance while processing
- files. For example, a file that used to take 75 seconds
- to be archived, now is completed in 48 seconds.
