  2. sophisticated tools for MS-DOS users. The programs offer
  3. functionality; some enhance programs already found in MS-DOS, other
  4. tools were familiar to the Unix world and are now available in MS-DOS.

  18. ADDCOMM*   allows you to define the actual address of your
  19.            communications ports in the DOS lower memory segment
  20.            allowing older machines to support COM3 and COM4.
  21.  
  22. ALARMCLK*  provides a simple alarm clock for MS-DOS machines.
  23.  
  24. ALLSUB*    Allows any command or program to be run on the current
  25.            directory as well as all on subdirectories of the current
  26.            directory. This is useful for deleting groups of files or
  27.            performing tasks with programs that don't normally allow
  28.            for subdirectories.

  30. AREACODE*  AREACODE is a utility that will help you locate the region
  31.            to which an area code applies or to locate the area code
  32.            for a specific region.

  34. BANNER*    Create a large banner using a standard ASCII printer.

  36. BOOT       Reboot PC from within a batch file or from the DOS command
  37.            line.

  39. BOOTCTL    Boot system on hard drive even with a non system floppy

  47.            the Serial or Parallel ports on the screen.  This is a very
  48.            handy tool when trying to debug communications or printing
  49.            problems.

  51. CALENDAR*  Display monthly or yearly calendar

  53. CAT*       Unix like CAT utility for displaying, printing, and
  54.            combining files.

  56. CHIMES*    Quarterly hour clock chimes.  Westminster, Saint Michael,
  57.            or Whittington chimes.

  59. CLEANFL    Makes the task of cleaning floppy drive heads much easier
  60.            and more thorough. Moves the head of the floppy drive to
  61.            travel the entire span of the cleaning floppy rather than
  62.            just using a small portion of the cleaning diskette.

  65. CLEANUP    Cleanup allows you to recover valuable space that is eaten
  66.            up by unused or duplicate files on your hard and floppy
  67.            drives. Quickly isolates unused and duplicate files and
  68.            removes them.

  70. COUNT      Counts the number of characters, words and lines in a file.

  72. CURLOCK*   CURLOCK locks the cursor shape (optionally set with CURSOR)
  73.            so that no matter what software you use the cursor will not
  74.            be changed.

  76. CURSOR*    Let's you change the size and shape of the DOS cursor.

  78. CUT*       Unix like utility for displaying and printing text files in
  79.            different formats by eliminating columns and other
  80.            formatting options.

  82. CUTPASTE   Small clipboard utility for MS-DOS.  CUTPASTE allows you to
  83.            pop up over any DOS application and copy a portion of the
  84.            information displayed on the screen and paste it into
  85.            another application, to the printer or to a file.

  87. DELAY*     Sets a user defined delay in batch files or CONFIG.SYS.

  89. DETAB*     Strips any tab characters from an ASCII text file and
  90.            converts them into spaces. This is especially useful when
  91.            working with old formatted files that you would like to
  92.            work with in an editor which treats fixed tabs differently.

  94. DISKINFO   Reads the boot sector of a disk and then makes a DOS call
  95.            to find out the information that DOS has for that disk. It
  96.            will then list out the information in a side by side format
  97.            so that you may compare the reports from DOS and the boot
  98.            record.

  100. EDIT       SuperEdit full screen editor many features including
  101.            multiple windows, text formatting options and pull down
  102.            menus.

  104. EVAL*      DOS command line calculator that evaluates mathematical
  105.            expressions input on the command line.

  107. FILEATTR   Allows you to set or change the attributes of a group of
  108.            files.

  110. FILEINFO   Alleviates the problem that DOS has created by only
  111.            allowing 8 characters to describe a file. FILEINFO provides
  112.            a way of adding comments to files in any directory.

  114. FILESIZE*  Displays a list of files and their respective sizes with
  115.            summary that gives total sizes, number of files, totals
  116.            space on disk and space available both in bytes and
  117.            percentage.

  119. FILETREE*  Scans the directory structure of a disk and gives a top
  120.            down tree listing of the entire disk's directory structure.
  121.  
  122. FINDFILE*  Will locate files by searching the entire disk for a
  123.            specified file. Also searches within compressed files to
  124.            searchfor filenames. When it finds a matching file it will
  125.            display the directory the file was found in, the complete
  126.            file name, the file size, creation date and time, and any
  127.            attributes associated with the file.

  129. HELP       HELP prints out help messages on some of the more useful
  130.            and popular DOS commands.
  131.  
  132. HEXDUMP*   Provides you a quick dump of the contents of any file.  The
  133.            advantage of HEXDUMP is that you can quickly dump the
  134.            contents of any file to the screen without having to load
  135.            the overhead of a shell program.
  136.  
  137. HUSH*      A utility that can eliminate a majority of the sounds
  138.            generated by the PC's internal speaker.
  139.  
  140. KILLDIR*   Makes eliminating a directory and all of it's contents a
  141.            lot easier. It displays information about the directory
  142.            that includes the number of files and their sizes as well
  143.            as any subdirectory information.

  145. LASER      Helps you set your laser printer's mode and also makes it
  146.            easy for you to send control codes to it.
  147.  
  148. LS*        Unix like file listing utility.  It has many advanced
  149.            features beyond that of the DIR command found in DOS.

  151. MONITOR    MONITOR displays an adjustment pattern for your monitor.
  152.            It is useful when trying to align and adjust monitors.
  153.            Support HERCULES through VGA cards MOVE      Moves any file
  154.            from one place to another.
  155.  
  156. MOVE       Move files to different locations on the hard disk without
  157.            having to copy and delete manually.  Supports multiple hard
  158.            drives including network drives.

  160. NAMEDIR*   Renames directories without emptying or modifying their it's
  161.            contents.

  163. NO         File exlusion utility.  Let's you run a command on all files
  164.            except specified groups.

  166. PATHFIND*  Allows you to search the file path for any files.  Will
  167.            display the files that it finds in order of appearance
  168.            within the path. This is handy when you are trying to
  169.            locate a similar program or file that could exist in
  170.            multiple places in your path statement.

  172. PSPRINT    Allows you to print DOS ASCII Text files on a PostScript
  173.            device without the usual conversion.

  175. SCRNATTR*  Sets the foreground, background and border colors at the DOS
  176.            prompt.

  178. SPEEDRAM*  Increases the speed of your system CPU by changing the
  179.            refresh rate of your system's 8253 timer chip. SpeedRam
  180.            should increase your CPU's performance from 2% to 10%.

  182. TEXTSRCH*  Searches for all occurrences of a given string inside of a
  183.            specified text file.

  185. TIDY*      Scans drives for any .BAK and 0 length files and deletes
  186.            them automatically.

  188. TOUCH*     A unix like utility used to stamp a file's attributes with
  189.            the current system date and time.

  193. TURBOBAT* Compiles batch files into .COM binary programs.  This will
  194.           greatly increase the speed of large batch files by allowing
  195.           them to run in machine code rather than interpreted DOS
  196.           commands.

  199.           applications with a minimal memory setting.
