- Part 1 : Introduction.
-
- First this important thing : This document was written by a Dutch person , so
- it's possible that there are some grammatical or other kind of error's in the
- text. But who cares , it's all for free anyway !
-
- This program was written for you to enjoy the music of Sound/Noise Tracker,
- if you have an AT and a Sound Blaster.
-
- So I (=JM) analyzed the music format of the Noise and Sound Tracker.
- And after some time I wrote this program, which enables you to listen to the
- (sometimes) terrific songs !
- (See part 6 how to get some of these great songs.)
-
- And here it is, JMPLAYER will play any legal Noise/Sound Tracker format
- (15/31 instruments) on the DAC channel of the Sound Blaster.
-
- The program uses the so called script files, which contain 1 or more filenames
- and other options. (see part 2)
-
- Further is it possible to use Pause/Repeat/Fast reverse/Fast forward and other
- options while the music is played. (See part 3)
-
- The program will scan the paths in the enviroment variable PATH , if it can't
- find JMPLAYER.DAT in the current directory, so you can create different music
- disks , only contaning an extra JMPROG.? file and play them , by coping
- JMPLAYER.EXE & JMPLAYER.DAT in a 'PATH' directory.
-
- Before using the program read parts 2,3,4. Part 6 gives your more
- information about the music files and Ultra Force.
-
-
- Part 2 : The JMPROG.* file format.
-
- The JMPLAYER can play 10 different programs , JMPROG.0 ... JMPROG.9 .
- See part 3 and 4 , how to select while running the program or in the command
- line.
-
- The JMPROG files are normal ASCII text files , contaning no extra symbols. The
- program will scan every line for commands. The following commands are possible
- 1 : R=n , n = number of times to repeat the program , a 'A' means always.
- 2 : T="..." , when the program is selected the text between quotes is shown.
- Only the first 76 characters are shown , so it got no use to make
- the text length longer.
- 3 : ' blabla, comment , the program will skip the rest of the line.
- 4 : name , Name is a legal filename (including path and drive) of the song-
- file to play. Behind the name you can also use some options.
-
- The program does verification checks , so make sure you type all the
- sentences right: any errors are skipped. There's no difference between
- lower/upper case except in the text of the title.
-
- Note on 4 :
-
- Behind the filename you can use R:n & T:".." (use spaces between options and
- filename). They have the same effect as the main R= & T= , but now for the
- current song played.
- (Note: enabling repeat always (A) causes the next song never to be played !)
- Important are the extension of the file , because the program will use them to
- make a difference between the diff. formats. Possible extensions are :
-
- .NST : The noise tracker format (the program checks for 15 or 31 instr.).
- .JMS : Own smaller , faster in loading , format. (See NSTTOJMS.COM)
- .SD2 : Noise tracker format with 15 instruments.
- .SD4 : Noise tracker format with 31 instruments.
- .JMQ : Old format (Private , for old songs) , not important.
-
-
- An example of a JMPROG file :
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- ' This is a example of a JMPROG file
- 'this is more comment !!
- R=A ' The program repeats forever
-
- ' Main Title
- T="Titel of program 0 , for example ACID BOX , etc. "
- ' Don't forget the closing quotes !!, if you do all this text will be taken as
- ' a title too.
-
- Q:\PATH0\PATH1\ACID1.NST R:2 T:"Some good acid first of Acid boys !!"
- Q:\PATH0\hiphop0.jms t:"Hahahahahahaha Hip Hop !!"
-
- ' End of file.
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- See JMPROG.0 for another example !
-
-
- Part 3 : Keys.
-
- While the program plays can be used.
-
- ESCAPE : Exit to dos.
- F1 : To pause the song and equalizer, F6 continues, F2/F4 are still active
- F2 : Stop playing, F6/F4 to continue , 0..9 to select new program.
- F3 : Increases repeat-times of current song, from 0..A, after A comes 0
- F4 : Loads next song of current program.
- F5 : Decrease track and start at the beginning of that track.
- F6 : Play, only after F1/F2.
- F7 : Goto next track and start at the beginning.
- 0..9 : Select program number , only after pressing F2.
-
-
- Part 4 : Command line options.
-
- Possible options : /O:n, /I:n, /F:name, /P:n
-
- /O:n , n is the middle digit of the I/O adress of the Sound Blaster card.
- n between 1 and 6 , default is 2.
- /I:n , n is the IRQ number of the Sound Blaster card.
- Possible options : 2,3,5 and 7.
- /F:name , name is the filename of your own CT-VOICE driver , the program will
- get your I/O and IRQ number information from that file.
- /P:n , n is the program number to start with , n between 0 and 9 , def. = 0
-
- Note 1 : The program will autom. search for the file CT-VOICE.DRV in the current
- directory. Use /F when the file has an other name.
- Note 2 : /O & /I have no function , when there is a CT-VOICE.DRV file in the
- current directory.
-
- Part 5 : Specifications
-
- This program needs : - A Sound Blaster card
- - A EGA/VGA with 640x200 16 colors
- - An AT , (8 Mhz. higher)
-
- The last , because the program recalculates the frequencies and joins them
- together. This takes a lot of time. But JM is working on a new version for all
- PC's.
-
- Of course J.M. and U4C take no responsibilities for any kind of damages this
- program may cause (Which won't happen , if you do everything right !)
-
-
- Part 6 : About Ultra Force and addresses
-
- Ultra Force exists of eight computerfanatics, which aim to make games
- and try to make them in their eyes perfect.
- To create perfect code we make demo's to determine the limits and get more
- experience. This demo is an example of what we can do with the Sound Blaster.
- With this demo we try to get some attention of Software Houses.
