  4. Subject: Using LOGITECH Products under IBM OS/2

  7.             Mouse Hardware
  8.             --------------
  9.  
  10. All Logitech Mice work with the IBM OS/2 mouse drivers. 
  11. Proper installation for the various types of mice is as follows:
  12.  
  13. Serial Mouse
  14.     Select "PC Mouse Systems Mouse" during OS/2 installation.
  15.  
  16.     BIG NOTE: In OS/2, version 1.2, if you start in DOS and use the BOOT
  17.     program to switch to OS/2, the mouse may not work if it is not
  18.     configured as a PC Mouse Systems Mouse. To do that, while in DOS, ]
  19.     enter the command:

  21.                  MOUSE PC
  22.  
  23.     (assuming MOUSE.COM is in the path). Then use the BOOT program
  24.     to get into OS/2:
  25.  
  26.                  \OS2\BOOT /OS2
  27.  
  28.     The specific lines you need in the CONFIG.OS2 (which is renamed to
  29.     CONFIG.SYS by BOOT):

  31.          DEVICE=C:\OS2\PCMOU01.SYS
  32.          DEVICE=C:\OS2\MOUSE.SYS TYPE=PCMOU$
  33.          DEVICE=C:\OS2\COM01.SYS

  35.     This assumes you are using COM1 as the mouse port.

  37.     The mouse should work fine if you are in OS/2 and turn your machine
  38.     off, then turn it on again.  CONFIG.SYS will initialize the mouse as
  39.     a PC Mouse Systems Mouse automatically.  You only need the above
  40.     procedure if you start in DOS and switch to OS/2 with BOOT because
  41.     BOOT does a warm boot which does not reinitialize the mouse.

  43. Bus Mouse, EGA-&-Mouse
  44.     Select "Microsoft Mouse, Bus Version" during OS/2 installation

  48.     Install as IBM PS/2/Microsoft Inport Mouse during OS/2 installation

  51. EGA-&-Mouse Board
  52. The EGA board works well under OS/2 provided the switches are set to
  53. make it look like a standard EGA - Autoswitching OFF, with enhanced
  54. display (in some circumstances the board works when set to an Autosynch
  55. display). We have AutoCAD and Windows drivers that can put the Monitor
  56. in 640x480 mode, and they work in the DOS box, but switching to OS/2 and
  57. back gets you a corrupted screen. OS/2 will not boot if Autoswitching is 
  58. set to ON.

  61.             Mouse Software

  64. All of the software mentioned below can only be run in the DOS
  65. Compatibility Box (also known as Real Mode).

  67. Driver
  68. The DOS driver can only be run if the OS/2 driver is not loaded, the DOS 
  69. driver works perfectly in the Compatibility Box.  
  70. Customers who do not have OS/2 applications that use a mouse should use 
  71. the DOS driver, since it appears to update the cursor more frequently, 
  72. giving smoother motion. 
  73. Click & Menu are both Compatible in the Real Mode.

  79. LOGICADD (Generic CADD)
  80. Can only be used if the OS/2 mouse driver is not installed, because it
  81. tries to take over the interrupt for the mouse (which is not allowed by
  82. OS/2). It does work if the DOS driver is installed.

  84. Logitech Publisher (First Publisher)
  85. Works with both the OS/2 driver and the DOS driver.

  87. LOGIPAINT (PC Paintbrush)
  88. Works with both the OS/2 driver and the DOS driver.

  91. Works with both the OS/2 driver and the DOS driver. Use the EGA mode for
  92. proper operation.
