  103.           FTP programs vary from system to system; contact your local
  104.           system support staff for instructions on anonymous FTP.  Note
  105.           that because of simtel20's popular archives, sun.soe.clarkson.edu
  106.           is generally easier to connect to via anonymous FTP.

  110.           Send mail to archive-server@sun.soe.clarkson.edu and with the
  111.           command "help" as the body of the message. Once you read the help
  112.           message, you can request files using commands such as "send uupc
  113.           index".

  126.           reached 24 hours a day at (315)268-6667, 8N1, 1200/2400 Baud.
  127.           Follow the instructions after logon to download files.

  132.           To retrieve UUPC/extended via Kermit, you must have a Kermit
  133.           program which can issue the GET and FINISH commands to a Kermit
  134.           server.
  135.  
  136.             1. Set your Kermit to:
  137.  
  138.                     Maximum packet size (optional, but important)
  139.                     Two windows (optional)
  140.                     Three byte checksum (optional)
  141.                     1200 or 2400 baud
  142.                     No parity
  143.                     ^S/^Q flow control
  144.  
  145.             2. Call 1-617-641-4817 between 9 AM and 5:30 PM weekdays, or
  146.                any night between 11:30 PM and 6 AM (All times are Eastern).
  147.                At all other times, the system will reject your call.
  148.  
  149.             3. After connect, press ENTER and kewgate's "login:" prompt
  150.                will appear.  Enter the user id "anonymous"and press ENTER.
  151.  
  152.             4. The "password:"  prompt will appear.  Enter the password,
  153.                "ribbit", and press ENTER.
  154.  
  155.               Note:              Note:              Note:  Both the user id and password are case sensitive, and
  156.                     you cannot backspace when typing them in.  If you make
  157.                     an error then press ENTER until you get the "login:"
  158.                     prompt again and start over.

  160.             5. A short hello message will appear, and then MS-Kermit will
  161.                await your command.  Escape to your local command mode, and
  162.                then issue a GET for one or more of the files listed below.
  163.  
  164.               Note:              Note:              Note: If your Kermit program cannot issue a directory
  165.                     command, retrieve the file INDEX for a current list of
  166.                     the available files.  The INDEX lists files in both in
  167.                     the current directory and its subdirectories; Kermit,
  168.                     however, will not be able to retrieve files from the
  169.                     subdirectories.  (Any files in subdirectories are
  170.                     accessible via anonymous UUCP, described below.)

  172.             6. When done, issue the FINISH command to shutdown the Kermit
  173.                server.  DO NOT just hang up your telephone, because then
  174.                you will hang up kewgate until it times out, which is not
  175.                critical but is unkind since now you know better.

  184.           The files available on kewgate can also be downloaded via
  185.           anonymous UUCP.  To use anonymous UUCP, define entries for the
  186.           system kewgate in your SYSTEMS file and PERMISSN file.  The
  187.           SYSTEMS file entry should define the phone number as 1-617-641-
  188.           4817, the user id as "nuucp", and the password as "nuucp".
  189.           kewgate accepts anonymous UUCP phone calls between midnight and 5
  190.           AM any night, and between 10 AM and 4 PM weekdays.  All times are
  191.           Eastern.

  193.               Note:              Note:              Note: Beginning with release 1.11m of UUPC/extended, the
  194.                     sample systems file in the documentation archive
  195.                     includes a sample entry for kewgate.

  197.           The files are located in the home directory for nuucp, so files
  198.           should be requested via the UUCP command with the syntax
  199.           ~nuucp/filename.  For example, to retrieve the index for the
  200.           archive to your local /tmp directory, issue the command:
  201.  
  202.                uucp  kewgate!~nuucp/index  /tmp/
  203.  
  204.           The UUCICO program must then be invoked to actually process the
  205.           request.  Users should retrieve the file index first, and then
  206.           issue additional requests for the actual files wanted based on
  207.           the current directory listing.

  218.           Because of CompuServe's six character limit on file names, the
  219.           files uploaded to CompuServe do not follow the normal
  220.           UUPC/extended naming convention.  Contact the UUPC/extended Help
  221.           Desk (from CompuServe, >Internet: help@kew.com) for the forum ame
  222.           and file names.

  228.           Software for a copying fee.  Crynwr Software charges $20 for
  229.           UUPC/extended without the OS/2 files, $30 gets you the OS/2 files
  230.           also.  They can accept payment via check, money order, Visa, or
  231.           MasterCard.  Foreign checks should be drawn on a US bank.  Add 7%
  232.           New York sales tax if you are a New York State resident.  Add $2
  233.           for foreign postage.  Add $2 if you are using a purchase order.

  285.           C++ and MS C  6.0.  Most MS-DOS users will want uupc11qr.zip,
  286.           uupc11qo.zip, and uupc11qw.zip  Most OS/2 users will want
  287.           uupc11q2.zip, uupc11q3.zip, and uupc11qw.zip  Both uupc11qs.zip
  288.           and uupc11qw.zip include the same sample files.

  291.           directory (-d) option.
