  20. SHARE.EXE: Status Report 5
  21.  
  22. When loading the server, you may get "Status Report 5", which
  23. talks about SHARE.EXE not being loaded when the SERVER.EXE was
  24. executed.  SHARE.EXE is a program that comes with DOS 3.1 or
  25. above.  SHARE is the mechanism that allows files to be accessed
  26. simultaneously from multiple clients.  If you get Status Report
  27. 5, you do not have SHARE.EXE in your PATH.  Either add the
  28. appropriate directory to your PATH (where SHARE.EXE is located)
  29. or copy SHARE.EXE to the directory where NetWare Lite is
  30. installed.  Although loading SHARE is not required for the server
  31. to run, it is strongly recommended.  SHARE should be loaded
  32. before SERVER.  SHARE should be tuned for proper performance. 
  33. You may need to increase the values for locks (/L) and files (/F)
  34. if you run database applications, or if you have more than 4
  35. users accessing the server.  See your DOS documentation for more
  36. information on configuring SHARE.  You do not need to load SHARE
  37. before loading CLIENT.

  39. Note that when you increase the number of files that can be
  40. locked at one time (i.e., by increasing the /L: above the default
  41. of 20), you must also increase the amount of file space in the
  42. operating system's storage area (done by increasing the /F: above
  43. the default of 2048).  Generally each open file requires an
  44. additional 20 bytes of storage space.  See your DOS documentation
  45. for more information.
