- LapView is a File Transfer and Directory Management Utility for two IBM
- compatible computers connected by the Serial Port using a standard null modem
- cable. LapView displays two directories side by side, one from each computer.

- Scroll through the Directory listings and select files to transfer between
- computers. Copy, Move, Delete, View and Print files. Sort, Switch, Create and
- Remove Directories or Run an .EXE, .COM, or .BAT file on either machine, all
- with a few key strokes.

- INSTALL LapView
-
- Local Computer: Copy LapView.Exe, LapView.Doc and Lv.Com to a Directory that
- is in the PATH as set in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. You can now
- start LapView from any Directory on the system.

- Remote Computer: Copy LP.Exe and Lv.Com to a Directory that is in your PATH as
- set in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. You can now start LP.Exe from
- any Directory on the remote system.

- The two computers must be connected together using a standard
- null modem cable and Serial Ports.

- START LapView: Start LP.Exe on the Remote computer. Use: LP /p p=Com Port
-
- Example: C>LP /2 This will start LP using Com2. If /p is
- omitted Com1 will be used.

- Start LapView.Exe on the Local computer. Use: LapView rd ld /p
- rd=Remote Drive, ld=Local Drive p=Com Port
-
- Example: C>LapView A B /2
-
- This will start LapView with the Directory of Drive A from the
- Remote computer in the left window and the directory of drive
- B from the Local computer in the right window. LapView will
- use Com2 for the Port on the local computer. If all command
- line options are omitted, LapView will start using the current
- Directories from each machine and communicate through Com1.

- USING LapView
-
- Use the Arrow, Page Up, Page Down, Home and End keys to move through the
- Directory listings. Move the cursor next to a File and press the Ins key to
- select it. After selecting one or more files, press the highlighted letter of
- a command listed at the top of the screen. Use the Del key to cancel a
- selection. The Right and Left Arrow keys are used to the switch active window.

- Move the cursor next to a Directory and press Ins to switch to that Directory.
- Move the cursor next to . . [DIR] and press Ins to exit a Directory.
- COPY AND MOVE

- Selected files can be Copied or Moved to and from any Drive or Directory on the
- Local or Remote computers. When prompted, enter a "target" destination for the
- selected files. Enter > as the target to Copy or Move files from the Remote to
- the Local computer. Enter < as the target to Copy or Move files from the Local
- to the Remote computer.

- DELETE

- Select files and press D to delete them. To Remove a Directory move the cursor
- next to the Directory and press D to remove it. If the Directory is not empty
- LapView will ask for conformation before the files are deleted.

- PRINT
-
- The print command is used to print a file from the Remote or Local computer.
- All files are printed on the printer attached to the Local computer. To print
- a file from the Remote computer to a printer attached to the Remote computer use
- the Copy command and enter LPT1 or LPT2 as the target destination.

- SORT
-
- Press S to sort the Directory in the active window. Directories can be sorted
- by file name, extension, size or date.

- MAKE DIRECTORY

- Press K to Create a new directory on the current drive in the active window.
- Enter the name for the Directory when prompted. To Remove a Directory press D
- with the cursor next to the Directory to Remove. See Delete above.

- LOOK
-
- Move the cursor next to a file and press L to see the contents on the file.
- Use the Arrow, Page Up, Page Down, Home and End keys to move through the file.
- Look is used for ASCII files up to 64k in size, with larger files the first 64k
- will be displayed. Non ASCII files can be viewed, but won't mean much.

- CHANGE DRIVE

- Press V to Change Drives in the Active Window. Enter the letter of the drive
- to change to. Enter the current drive letter to reread a Drive after a
- Diskette change. The Current Drive and Directory name along with the amount
- of free disk space is displayed at the top of each window.
- RUN

- Move the cursor next to a selected COM, EXE, or BAT file and press R to run it.
- Command line parameters can be entered when prompted. If the Local computer is
- the Active Window and no files are selected, when R is pressed Lapview will
- shell out to the DOS Prompt. Type Exit to return to LapView.

- Use caution when Running a file on the Remote computer. LapView does not
- redirect input and output from the Remote to the Local computer. You can't
- shell out to DOS on the Remote computer. While a program is running on the
- Remote computer the Local computer can be accessed by switching Active Windows.

- This program package is available as A-Ware, Advertising Software. The
- registration screen displayed at the beginning and end of LapView is
- replaced with your full-screen color advertisement. A-Ware is sold in
- master disk format and includes unlimited license to copy, distribute and
- upload onto computer BBS etc. There are no registration screens or
- solicitations for money in the A-Ware version or the documentation.
