  2.                    Novell Certified NetWare Engineer (CNE) 
  3.                            Assessment Test Diskette
  4.  
  5. The Certified NetWare Engineer Assessment Test is designed to help you
  6. evaluate your NetWare skills.  It will also give you practice answering
  7. questions of a similar format to those on the actual CNE certification exams.
  8.  
  9. Because this test covers the concepts you are required to know for CNE
  10. certification, the higher you score, the closer you may be to actually
  11. becoming a CNE.  However, the Assessment Test does not serve as an actual
  12. certification exam, nor does performance on this test guarantee or directly
  13. correlate to the degree of success you may have on the actual CNE
  14. certification exams.

  16. You may take the quizzes one at a time, in any order, and you may repeat each
  17. quiz as often as you wish.  The quizzes are not scored as pass or fail.  The
  18. numerical score enables you to evaluate the quality of your performance and
  19. decide whether you would benefit from the training prescriptions provided.

  21. At the end of each section quiz, your numerical score will appear along with
  22. recommended study materials, called "prescriptions."  Prescriptions for
  23. each section are not customized based upon the section score, but display
  24. all recommended study materials for that section.  All study materials,
  25. whether self-study, instructor-led or computer-based, are available through
  26. your local Novell Authorized Education Center (NAEC).

  32. How to start the CNE Assessment Test program
  33.  
  34. 1.    Place the diskette containing the CNE Assessment Test into a disk drive.
  35. 2.    Transfer control to that drive (e.g., A: then <ENTER>)
  36. 3.    At the prompt for the disk drive, type CNE then <ENTER>.
  37.  
  38. If you are having problems running the CNE Assessment Test, increase the 
  39. number of file handles on your system.  This can be done by increasing the 
  40. "FILES =" parameter in your config.sys file by 5.  A common number of 
  41. file handles is 20.
  42.  
  43. The CNE Assessment Test diskette is not a multiuser program and therefore 
  44. cannot be run as shareable on a network.  The CNE Assessment Test 
  45. diskette is not copy protected.  You may copy the entire contents of the 
  46. diskette to a subdirectory on your hard drive; however, to begin the 
  47. program, you must be in the subdirectory.

  50. Program Details

  52. When the program begins, you will see two screens containing text on the
  53. purpose of the program.  Press any key to proceed past these screens.
  54.  
  55. You will then be asked to enter your first and last names and to confirm your
  56. entries.  This creates a data file for your scores on the tests you will
  57. subsequently take.  The program will then remember you and the scores on the
  58. tests you have previously taken each time you use the program.  These scores
  59. may be printed at any time.

  61. After entering your name you will see a Test List.  At this menu you should
  62. choose one of the tests.
  63.  
  64. After you make the test choice, you will see an Options Menu.  You may choose
  65. to take a test, see the reports on previous tests you have taken, or return to
  66. the Test List.

  68. Choosing Take a Test will produce a menu of sections within the test of
  69. interest.  You may select any of these sections to receive a subtest on this
  70. material.  The program will present from 6 to 20 questions dealing with this
  71. section.

  73. Taking a Test

  75. All of the questions in the CNE Assessment Test are multiple choice.  When you
  76. see a test question, you can choose an option by typing A, B, C, etc., or by
  77. using the arrow keys to move the highlight bar.  You may Skip a question if
  78. you wish; however, the question will appear again at the end of the test.  You
  79. may also Cancel the test.  Canceling the test will take you back to the
  80. section menu without giving you a score for the test.

  83. Test Scores and Prescriptions

  85. When you have answered the questions, the program will save your score to your
  86. data file and display the score for you.  The score report tells you how many
  87. questions you answered correctly out of the number that were presented.  It 
  88. also displays the percent value of your score.

  90. You can choose to Print your section score or See Prescriptions.  If you
  91. choose to see prescriptions a list of appropriate sections from Novell
  92. Education Student Manuals, the Novell Product Red Manuals and the Novell CBT
  93. products will be displayed. If you study the material outlined in the
  94. prescriptions you will likely increase your score on that section when you
  95. take the test again.  You may Print these prescriptions along with your score
  96. if you wish.

  108. additional training, please contact your local Novell Authorized Education
  109. Center (NAEC).  At each of our 400 NAECs you are assured of being taught by
  110. Certified NetWare Instructors (CNIs), using Novell-developed material in
  111. facilities approved by Novell.
