  2. LANSHARE v2.0 is compatible with LANtastic NOS v 4.xx.

  5. Product Overview
  6. LANSHARE provides remote control services in a NetBIOS LAN environment.  
  7. Both text and graphics modes are supported, although graphics mode image 
  8. transfers are very slow.  Remote control via mouse is not supported and the host 
  9. program can only be removed from memory by rebooting the PC.  Up to 16 
  10. guests can view and control a host at the same time.  Security is provided in 
  11. two ways:  First, the host program has an option to notify the user of an 
  12. incoming control request and the user may accept or reject the request.  Second, 
  13. a file containing a list of authorized users may be specified when installing 
  14. the host, and access is allowed only to viewers who are included on this list.  
  15. LANSHARE is licensed on a per network basis and is not copy protected.

  18. Test Equipment Configuration
  19. The following machines were used for LANSHARE testing.  All machines have 
  20. VGA adapters installed and use Artisoft AE-2 NICs.  Testing was completed 
  21. using LANtastic NOS v4.0 with AILANBIO.EXE and AE2.EXE v2.03.  Machines 
  22. running as LANtastic peer servers are designated by (S).

  29. Product Installation Notes
  30. MicroNet does not include an installation program with LANSHARE, but all that is 
  31. required is to make a directory for the programs and copy them from the floppy 
  32. disk.

  34. Product Execution Notes
  35. LANSHARE consists of two programs, a host program, LANSHARE.EXE and a 
  36. guest program, LANCALL.EXE.  The host can be configured from the command 
  37. line, or if no configuration options are specified, LANSHARE automatically 
  38. brings up a menu of choices.  The user then presses ctrl-enter to install the 
  39. program in memory with the desired configuration.  Once it is installed, the 
  40. host can only be removed from memory by rebooting the PC.  LANCALL also may 
  41. be configured via the command line or a short menu to specify a name for the 
  42. guest and the name of the host it is calling.  The DOS RAM overhead for host 
  43. program is just under 12K, and the guest program can only be run as an 
  44. application, it does not have a TSR mode.  Although VGA graphics can be viewed, 
  45. the program transfers them very slowly, taking about 40 seconds to fully update 
  46. the guest's screen to match the host's.  Unlike other remote control software, 
  47. LANSHARE does not provide an option to remotely reboot the host PC.
