- You can use the supplied WordPerfect environment with WordPerfect
- 4.2 or greater.
-
- With autoloading enabled, which is the default, Vocal-Eyes will
- automatically load the WP.SET and WP.KEY files. If you have
- autoloading disabled, you will need to issue the following command
- right before you are ready to load WordPerfect:
-
- VE /KWP/F1WP
-
- This will load both the key label dictionary and the appropriate
- .SET file. At this point, startup WordPerfect with the following
- command:
-
- WP
-
- As you can see, the autoloading approach is much simpler.
-
- You now have a talking version of WordPerfect. Remember, you can
- change any of the default values supplied here. This is simply
- meant to get you started. The following commands can be used:
-
- All of the standard read hot keys work as described in the manual.
- For example, CTRL-B for previous character, CTRL-C for current
- character and CTRL-D for next character. The same is true for
- word, line, sentence and paragraph.
-
- ALT-W -> This will read your entire work area. This includes lines
- 1 through 24.
-
- ALT-S -> This will read your status line. This is actually line
- 25.
-
- CTRL-A -> This will read your WordPerfect cursor position.
-
- ALT-R -> This will read your entire document from the cursor
- position to the end of the document. This is the Read To End hot
- key.
-
- When you enter the Spell option, you can press CTRL-W (read current
- word hotkey) to hear the word in question. Which means, if you
- press it two times in a row, the word will be spelled. A third
- press will spell the word phonetically. If you would like to hear
- the context around the misspelled word, simply issue the read
- current, previous or next hotkeys for character, word, line,
- sentence or paragraph. Also, if you want to hear the options
- offered by WordPerfect, simply press ALT-O. You will notice Vocal-
- Eyes first speaks each option and than spells it.
-
- When you enter the thesaurus option, you can use CONTROL-W just
- like you did in the Spell mode. Also, if you want to hear the
- first column of options, simply press ALT-X. To hear the second
- column of options, press ALT-Y and to hear the third column of
- options, press ALT-X. The standard Review, Menu and bypass hot
- keys are also available.
-
- Also, a few cursoring keys have been modified and added to the
- defaults. You will notice the TAB and BACK-TAB will read your
- WordPerfect cursor position as will the Page Up and Page Down keys.
-
- Also, the keypad dash (-) and plus (+) have been setup to read the
- current work area.
-
- CTRL-END has been setup to read all characters from the cursor to
- the end of the line.
-
- If you don't care for the particular placement of a hot key or you
- don't like what a particular cursoring key is speaking, feel free
- to change them to your liking. If you wish, you can setup some of
- the read attribute hot keys.
-
- The WP.SET file actually jumps between several .SET files. For
- example, a hyperactive window has been setup to load WPFILES.SET
- when the list files option has been selected. The same is true for
- the spell checker, the menus and reveal codes section. Keep this
- in mind as you make changes. For example, if you wish to change
- the speech rate, you will probably wish to change it for each .SET
- file.
-
- Feel free to use the utility VE_SET to convert the supplied .SET
- files into a readable ASCII text file. This will allow you to see
- very easily the default settings.
