  5.     Below are listed many of ReadIt's features.  We have listed the ones
  6.     that are retained from earlier versions first and then listed features
  7.     that are either modifications of the earlier ones or are new to version
  8.     2.0.  Please note that we may not have listed all features.  Those
  9.     features followed by an s in parenthesis (S) may be especially useful
  10.     to blind users of ReadIt.

  14.     Features retained from earlier versions:

  16.                 - Allows you to read large files even if the entire file
  17.                    can not be loaded into memory.
  18.  
  19.                 - Lets you specify file to be read from the DOS command             
  20.                   line or from the file entry window.
  21.  
  22.                 - Provides a file pick list that enables you to move
  23.                   through your hard drives directories and select a file to           
  24.                   be read.
  25.  
  26.                 - Has an automatic  "smart" line wrap feature which breaks          
  27.                   long lines so that all text is on the screen.  There is
  28.                   no  need to scroll the left or right text when reading a
  29.                   file containing very long lines.  Lines are not broken
  30.                   in the middle of words. (S)

  32.                 - Lets you search file for specific text.

  34.                 - Remembers up to five (5) text strings that you enter from          
  35.                   the find panel.  You can scroll through this list to
  36.                   select a string to be searched for.

  38.                 - Remembers up to five (5) filenames and/or drive
  39.                   specifications entered in the filename entry panel.  You             
  40.                   can scroll through these to select a file to be read or a
  41.                   drive and or directory to display in the pick list.

  43.                 - Has a variable speed, continuous scroll mode for hands free       
  44.                   reading of a text file.

  46.                 - Has switchable display modes (direct or bios).  (S)

  48.                 - Displays a status panel  to let you know where you are             
  49.                   and what switches are set.  The method for updating this
  50.                   panel can be set to Bios (except for line numbers) or
  51.                   direct.  (S)

  53.                 - Enables you to execute DOS commands from the text display        
  54.                   window (if enough memory is free).

  56.                 - Remembers up to five (5) DOS commands and lets you scroll        
  57.                   back through them to pick one to execute.

  59.                 - Displays a 2-line help panel that shows some of the
  60.                 available commands.

  62.                 - Always displays error messages at the same place on the           
  63.                   screen accompanied by an error tone.  No silent error
  64.                   boxes that might pop up anywhere.  (S)

  72.                   and then return to the bookmark.

  91.                 - Switchable pick list display.  Shows filenames and
  92.                   extensions only or full file info including size, date,
  93.                   time and attributes.

  103.                   logged directory and exit to DOS.

  106.                   with a "Jump panel".  These commands add versatility in
  107.                   moving around a file.

  109.                 - Provides "Block" commands which let you mark blocks to be
  110.                   written to disk.

  113.                   mode.  This may make it easier for portable computer
  114.                   users to see the cursor on an LCD screen.

  121.     democratic approach when deciding what to do with ReadIt.  Those
  122.     changes and features most wanted by our registered users are most
  123.     likely to find there way into future versions.  To ensure that you have
  124.     a vote, take a few minutes to fill out the comment section of the
  125.     registration form when you register your copy of ReadIt.
