  17.     Please upload this unmodified FUTUR201.ZIP file to any BBS, even
  18.     if you don't use a TDD. There are a lot of people who want to
  19.     communicate with deaf people on the phone. Very few BBS have a
  20.     program to work with a TDD. So please do not modify this program.

  23. FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED TO KNOW WHAT A TDD IS:
  24. ──────────────────────────────────────────
  25.     TDD is an abbreviation of Telephone Device for the Deaf.
  26.     Deaf people communicate with each other using the old─fashioned baudot
  27.     mode with 5 bits, at 45.45 baud. Hayes compatible modems are NOT
  28.     compatible with TDDs. This is due to different tones generated by the
  29.     TDD modem which uses frequencies at 1800 and 1400 hertz. So a special
  30.     modem for the deaf is needed.

  33. REQUIREMENTS:
  34. ─────────────
  35.     ■ Krown Research Smart Modem SM─85H, or Ultratec Intele─Modem,
  36.       Hayes or Phone─TTY CM─4 TDD Modem.
  37.     ■ IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2, or 100% compatibles.
  38.     ■ Monochrome Display Adapter, Color Graphics Adapter (CGA),
  39.       Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA), Multi─Color Graphics Array
  40.       (MCGA), or Video Graphics Array (VGA).
  41.     ■ Serial Port (COM 1─4).
  42.     ■ 240K minimum RAM.
  43.     ■ DOS version 2.0 or higher.

  45. INSTALLATION:
  46. ─────────────────────────
  47.     Just type INSTALL and press ENTER. Follow the instructions on the
  48.     screen.
  49.  
  50. EXECUTING AND SHORT─CUTS:
  51. ─────────────────────────
  52.     Execute the program by typing TDD and press ENTER at your DOS prompt.
  53.     Your best friend for learning how to use the program is using ALT-Z in
  54.     any part of the program. To press ALT-Z key, just press and hold the
  55.     ALT key and press Z key. The ALT-Z is a help screen related to current
  56.     functions. In other words, not all help screens are the same for each
  57.     function. After playing with every command outlined in all help screens,
  58.     you should be able to master this TDD program.  When modem selection
  59.     is set to "None", press NUMS Lock to simulate other user's typing.
  60.     This way you can try out the Futura-TDD software without a modem. With
  61.     a Hayes compatible modem, you can try a call to a relay service in ASCII.

  63.  The command lines for the TDD program are:
  64.      TDD -A to ANSWER incoming line now.
  65.      TDD -Ax to ANSWER incoming line now with function key #x [x=1..10].
  66.      TDD -D to go to DIRECTORY directly.
  67.      TDD -M to go MESSAGE CENTER and use setup's message selection.
  68.      TDD -Mx to go MESSAGE CENTER and use message #x [x= 1,2,3]
  69.      TDD -Z to go to the main menu directly.
  70.      TDD -MONOVGA to work with better colors on a Mono-VGA system.
  71.      TDD alone to enter to Futura-TDD.

  73. WINDOW'S PIF FILES:
  74. ──────────────────
  75.     386/486 Computers with 2mb or more: Use TDD386.PIF file. The hot key for
  76.     the program is CTRL-ALT-F. Use it whereever you are in. The TDD will run
  77.     in background to take messages even if other program is running.
  78.  
  79.     286/8086 Computers: Use TDD.PIF file. There is no hot key. Also will not
  80.     run in background due to CPU's limitations.

  82. DIFFERENCES OF TRIAL AND FULL VERSION:

  84.     Distribute this trial version to anyone. This trial version will give you
  85.     an opportunity to try this program out to see if it will meet your needs.

  88.        ■ 5 minutes limit on each call except when calling to a Futura user.
  89.        ■ Only 1 message taking feature is accepted.
  90.        ■ Short cut parameters on command line not supported.
  91.        ■ Remote on real calls not supported. (Remote on Notes supported).

  93.     FULL VERSION:
  94.        ■ Unlimited time on each call.
  95.        ■ Unlimited message taking is supported.
  96.        ■ No trial screen.
  97.        ■ Short cut parameters on command line supported: Ex: TDD ─M will
  98.          go to auto─message directly from DOS. TDD ─A will answer line
  99.          directly from dos.

  204.     in auto message or by a function key. Fixed.

  207.   ■ The "*" on keyboard will now be treated as "*" instead of time greeting.
