  17. FEW WORDS FROM PROGRAMMER:

  19.         Please upload this unmodified FUTURA110.ZIP file to many BBSes, even
  20.         you don't use a TDD. There are a lot of people who want to
  21.         communicate with deaf people on the phone. Very few BBS have a
  22.         program to work with a TDD. So please do not modify this program.

  25. FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED TO KNOW WHAT A TDD IS:
  26. ──────────────────────────────────────────
  27.         TDD is an abbreviation meaning of Telephone Device for the Deaf.
  28.         Deaf people communicate with each other using old─fashioned baudot
  29.         mode with 5 bits. Almost all (probably all) standard Hayes or
  30.         compatible modems can not work with TDDs. It is due to different
  31.         frequencies (1800 and 1400 hertz). So that is the reason we needed
  32.         a special modem for the deaf outlined in the requirements below.

  35. REQUIREMENTS:
  36. ─────────────
  37.         ■ Krown Research Smart Modem SM─85H, Ultratec Intele─Modem,
  38.           or Phone─TTY CM─4 TDD Modem. (To be detailed later)
  39.  
  40.         ■ IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2, or 100% compatibles.
  41.  
  42.         ■ Monochrome Display Adapter, Color Graphics Adapter (CGA),
  43.           Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA), Multi─Color Graphics Array
  44.           (MCGA), or Video Graphics Array (VGA).
  45.  
  46.         ■ Serial Port (COM 1─8).
  47.  
  48.         ■ 200K Free system RAM.

  50.         ■ DOS version 2.0 or higher.

  53. EXECUTING AND SHORT─CUTS:
  54. ─────────────────────────
  55.         Execute the program  by typing TDD  (and a <Carriage  Return>) at
  56.         your DOS prompt. Your best friend for learning how to use the
  57.         program is using ALT-Z in any part of the program. To press ALT-Z
  58.         key, just press and hold the ALT key and press Z key. The ALT-Z is
  59.         a help screen related to current functions. In other words, not
  60.         all help screens are the same for each function. After playing
  61.         with every command outlined in all help screens, you should be
  62.         able to master this TDD program.  When modem selection is set to
  63.     "None", press CAPS Lock to simulate other user's typing. It is good
  64.         for trying out the Futura-TDD software without a modem.

  67. DIFFERENCES OF TRIAL AND FULL VERSION:
  68. ──────────────────────────────────────
  69.         I felt that many customers are afraid of buying bad software
  70.         which are generally unrefundable. Because of this, I decided to
  71.         give this trial version free to anyone. I hope this trial version
  72.         will give you opportunity to try out to see if it will meet your
  73.         needs. Here are the differences:
  74.  
  75.         TRIAL VERSION:
  76.            ■ 3 minutes limit on each call.
  77.            ■ Message taking feature is NOT supported.
  78.            ■ Short cut parameters on command line not supported.
  79.  
  80.         FULL VERSION:
  81.            ■ Unlimited time on each call.
  82.            ■ Message taking is supported. It will take TDD calls if no one
  83.              can answer.
  84.            ■ No trial screen.
  85.            ■ Short cut parameters on command line supported: Ex: TDD ─M will
  86.              go to auto─message directly from DOS. TDD ─A will answer line
  87.          directly from dos.
