  8. This document describes the steps necessary to use this new version
  9. of ASAP.
  10.  
  11. The first step is to extract the components of this archive onto a
  12. disk or a directory on your hard disk.  Next, log onto that disk or
  13. into that directory.  If the disk were drive A:, you'd do that by
  14. typing "A:" then pressing Enter.  If you extracted the files into
  15. a directory, type "CD", a space, and the name of the directory,
  16. then press Enter.

  18. After logging onto the appropriate drive or directory, type
  19. "install" and press Enter to update an earlier version of ASAP to
  20. this latest version.

  22. If this is your first installation, please consult the
  23. documentation which is located in a separate file called ASAP.TXT. 
  24. It contains complete instructions for installation.

  26. If this archive is more than a month old, there's a good chance
  27. that there's a newer version of this program available.  It can be
  28. downloaded from the MicroTalk BBS at 502-893-2269.  The latest
  29. version is always available on the MicroTalk BBS.

  31. MicroTalk is interested in your comments.  If there's something
  32. about ASAP you don't like, or if there's a feature you'd like to
  33. see included in another revision, please let us know--you'll be
  34. surprised at how much we listen.  Most importantly, we're extremely
  35. interested in programs you may find that don't function properly
  36. with speech.  Let us know about them.

  38. If you decide you like the philosophy of automatic screen access,
  39. you may purchase a registered version of the ASAP software for
  40. $525.

  42. MicroTalk bundles ASAP with the DoubleTalk synthesizer for $795,
  43. and with the portable LiteTalk synthesizer for $895.  These are the
  44. recommended systems for use with ASAP, and the program was
  45. developed in conjunction with the designers of the DoubleTalk to
  46. make the marriage as close to perfect as possible.

  48. MicroTalk is very responsive to suggestions and comments, and we
  49. are open to nearly anything.  That's just one thing that makes ASAP
  50. so innovative.  If you have ideas about features you'd like to see,
  51. or if you're having any kind of problem using the package, don't
  52. hesitate to contact MicroTalk.  The best way to get directly in
  53. touch with the author is via modem.  You may reach him at the BBS
