  5. The purpose of the LAPTOP.SET file is to give users of laptops
  6. without a separate numeric keypad access to ASAP's keypad
  7. functions.  To use the LAPTOP.SET file, copy it to ASAP.SET.  A
  8. command like the following will do the trick:

  10. copy laptop.set asap.set
  11.  
  12. This command copies LAPTOP.SET to ASAP.SET.  ASAP.SET, as you'll
  13. recall from the documentation is a set file that gets used when
  14. you're at the DOS prompt.  The LAPTOP.SET file provides several
  15. user defined functions to give you the access enjoyed by users with
  16. numeric keypads.  Note that if you have a laptop or notebook
  17. computer that contains a "FN" key that gives you a keypad by re-
  18. mapping keys on the main keyboard, it is much better to use that
  19. method than to use LAPTOP.SET.

  21. The following keys are defined in LAPTOP.SET:

  23. Alt-U=keypad 7 (read previous line)
  24. Alt-I=keypad 8 (read current line)
  25. Alt-O=keypad 9 (read next line)
  26. Alt-J=keypad 5 (read previous word)
  27. Alt-K=keypad 5 (read current word)
  28. Alt-L=keypad 6 (read next word)
  29. Alt-M=keypad 1 (read previous character)
  30. Alt-Comma=keypad 2 (read current character)
  31. Alt-Period=keypad 3 (read next character)
  32. Alt-Apostrophe=keypad 0
