  7. This is a prerelease of GNU ptx.  With GNU make, GNU awk and GNU C
  8. compiler, installation should be straightforward.  Edit the Makefile
  9. according to instructions provided in it, then `make' the thing.  This
  10. will produces gptx and ptx, which are two names for the same file.  If
  11. everything goes fine, and if you wish, do `make install' using the
  12. proper account.

  14. There is some documentation in `gptx.texinfo', but there is no man
  15. page.  Calling the program with an illegal option, such as -h,
  16. provides an option summary.  English not being my native language, the
  17. documentation style is certainly quite crude.  Do not hesitate to
  18. comment about it, or even better, to ship back to me those parts you
  19. rewrote.

  21. The code has been successfully installed on Apollo, Sparc, Sun-3, and
  22. ix386 machines.  I would like to improve the portability of GNU ptx,
  23. as long as the code stays reasonnably readable.  The best thing would
  24. be that *you* provide me with some feedback about it.
