  3.         PEDRAW accepts pedigree data arranged in one of four formats: as
  4.         a PEDRAW data file, as a LINKSYS SDF file, or as a LINKAGE PED
  5.         file either before or after passing through MAKEPED. PEDRAW
  6.         determines the format of the file by its extension. If the
  7.         filename ends .DAT then it is assumed to be in PEDRAW format
  8.         <DATADAT>. If it ends .SDF it is assumed to be in LINKSYS SDF
  9.         format (produced by using the "Export" option of LINKSYS)
  10.         <DATASDF>. If it has the extension .PED it is assumed to be a
  11.         LINKAGE pedigree data file before MAKEPED has been run on it 
  12.         (i.e. without sibling pointers), and if it has the extension 
  13.         .PPD then it is assumed to be a LINKAGE pedigree file output 
  14.         from MAKEPED <DATALINK>. If the data file has none of these 
  15.         extensions then the program will ask which format the file 
  16.         is in. Note that there is no way to override the default 
  17.         interpretation. That is if you have a LINKAGE file called 
  18.         PEDATAIN.DAT, PEDRAW will misread the file and report an 
  19.         error. The file would have to be renamed e.g. to 
  20.         PEDATAIN.PPD before PEDRAW could use it.
