- CLEANING OUT THE desk and came across an old copy (more than 5
- years ago) of THE JOURNAL of the Tucson Computer Society. Are
- they still around? I wrote a column called TOM'S COCO NOTES. Just
- like TOM'S [IBM] NOTES of 1990. I was complaining about Tandy's
- CoCo II that wouldn't run some particular software item (a word
- processor.) Tandy told me I should have bought their word
- processor SCRIPSIT and it was tough cookies that my third party
- program wouldn't work.... The JOURNAL editor wrote that Tucson
- Newspapers had more that a hundred Model 100 computers and "AP
- just bought 1,500."
-
- THE AUTHOR OF MAXI Disk was in Tucson a few weeks ago and we "did
- lunch." I told him I was getting 82 tracks on my MITSUMI 3.5
- drive via MAXI. He said he's getting 83 on his TEAC and someone
- wrote and told him about getting 85 tracks on a PANASONIC drive.
-
- TEXTRA 6.0 PROGRESS REPORT: That's what Ann Arbor Software calls
- it. On a postcard recently received. "Textra 6.0 won't ship until
- the end of May at the earliest." In TEXTRA talk that means August
- or September.
-
- YES, you can still do rhyming with Word Perfect. Want to know
- what rhymes with "jump?" Go to SPELL/LOOKUP and enter "-ump" (the
- "-" is a wildcard). Hit enter and you will get 18 rhymes from
- bump & mugwump to ump.
-
- I TRIED BLAQUE BOOK (Martin Beattie) shareware and didn't like
- it. For your information: The latest version is 5.11 and
- registration is now $10.
-
- JON SHIRLEY RETIRES as MicroSoft President on June 30th. The new
- guy is an IBM vet (20 years), M.R. Hallman.
-
- NELSON FORD STRIKES AGAIN Dept. The March issue of PSL NEWS (Free
- sample copy - Call 1-800-2424-PSL) has a feature article
- revealing all concerning PC music making cards, software,
- keyboards, MIDI, etc. Covers virtually every available option.
- For more info get the March "Music Additions Disk." There is info
- as to what to expect from various dealers such as Sam Ash in NYC.
- Even a non-musician like me could understand it..... Too bad Ford
- doesn't write software manuals; he's really got a knack for
- explaining things.
