  1. (Dublin, Ohio -- May 18, 1992) AUTO-CODE Mechanical has announced the
  2. addition of 4-axis wire EDM (electric discharge machining) capability to
  3. its NC-AUTO-CODE NC/CNC programming system. Previously, only 2-axis wire
  4. EDM was supported by the program. Synchronization of the two wire guides
  5. is provided through a graphic interface under operator control which
  6. provides immediate visual verification of the wire program as well as
  7. collision detection. The program supports all standard wire controls and
  8. offers bidirectional skimcuts. It will be incorporated into Version 2 of
  9. NC-AUTO-CODE which will be provided without charge to all users of the
  10. program with a current maintenance agreement. The NC-AUTO-CODE package
  11. costs $3495 and also supports lathes, milling machines, turning centers,
  12. lasers, flame cutters and punch presses.

  14. NC-AUTO-CODE uses the new AutoCAD Version 11 ADS compiler-based programming
  15. interface to achieve significantly higher levels of performance than
  16. traditional integrated CNC packages. The act of compiling (translating
  17. source language into machine instructions before the program is run)
  18. greatly increases the speed of execution and also makes it possible for
  19. the program to control the computer more completely. The new interface
  20. makes it possible for NC-AUTO-CODE to offer all of the capabilities of
  21. stand-alone systems, such as real time animation of the programming path,
  22. while remaining tightly integrated within the AutoCAD environment.
  23. NC-AUTO-CODE runs on 386- and 486-based personal computers and Sun
  24. Sparcstations in conjunction with AutoCAD Release 11.
