  1. ROSLYN, NEW YORK, February 10, 1992 - - - Cheyenne Software, Inc.
  2. (AMEX:CYE) announced today the introduction of FAXserve the first file
  3. server-based, automated approach to network facsimile services that is
  4. totally integrated with NetWare.

  6. In making the announcement, ReiJane Huai, Vice President, Engineering,
  7. Cheyenne Software, stated, "Since the company's inception, it has been our
  8. mission to centralize and automate mission critical services by fully
  9. utilizing the power and strength of the file server. FAXserve is yet
  10. another server application developed by Cheyenne to meet those objectives.
  11. The security and management aspects inherent in FAXserve will be a
  12. valuable asset to its users."

  14. As a VAP/NLM in the file server, FAXserve provides a device independent CAS
  15. interface for all PCs on the network. Fax transmissions using FAXserve are
  16. sent from CAS compatible DOS or Windows or MHS compatible E-Mail programs.
  17. FAXserve sends information electronically which reduces material costs
  18. while enhancing quality and clarity and eliminating the need for
  19. additional hardware such as a facsimile machine or dedicated workstation.
  20. One copy of FAXserve installed in the server provides fax services to all
  21. network users.

  23. Mr. Huai also noted, "Using a facsimile machine to send information, as
  24. opposed to mailing it, has quickly become the preferred method of
  25. information distribution for the majority of businesses throughout the
  26. world. Automating this function will allow companies to re-focus the time
  27. and effort usually spent on faxing to more productive, and potentially
  28. more profitable activity."

  30. The Scheduling Feature allows a fax transmission to be sent during off-peak
  31. hours reducing telecommunications costs and taking full advantage of the
  32. NetWare queuing system, fax transmissions are protected by NetWare
  33. security. Only those users with the proper rights can view the
  34. transmission log or dispatch incoming faxes.

  36. FAXserve's audit trail coupled with the accounting features in Novell
  37. networks provides users with the ability to monitor usage and the
  38. associated costs for facsimile services. Statistical information such as
  39. date/time sent, completion status, duration of call, total files and pages
  40. sent are also maintained through FAXserve.

  42. FAXserve currently supports the full line of Intel Fax Boards, and its open
  43. architecture will allow Cheyenne to support other popular fax boards in
  44. future releases.

  46. FAXserve will begin shipping in April 1992 at a list cost of $995.00, which
  47. includes both the VAP/NLM and the Windows and DOS front ends.
