  1. New WILSONDISC Software--Version 2.4
  2.  
  3. The H.W. Wilson Company announces the release of WILSONDISC software
  4. Version 2.4. The new software includes major enhancements to WILSONDISC
  5. System searching, print/display, start-up, and installation capabilities.
  6. WILSONDISC subscribers will benefit from powerful new journal tagging
  7. features, additional truncation characters, expanded search options, and
  8. much more. Specific enhancements include:

  10. Upgraded Journal Holdings Manager--Users now have the ability create a
  11. customized message for each journal (59 character limit). The Journal
  12. Holdings Reports feature has also been upgraded for ease of use.

  14. Multiple-Character Truncation Symbols--Two frequently-used truncation
  15. characters, the question mark (?) and the dollar sign ($), can now be used
  16. in the WILSONLINE and WILSEARCH modes.

  18. Enhanced Search Capabilities--BROWSE Mode search terms have expanded beyond
  19. subjects to include book titles and authors for Book Review Digest and
  20. Cumulative Book Index. Search terms for Index to Legal Periodicals have
  21. also been expanded to include cases and statutes. ∙ WILSEARCH Mode search
  22. screens are now database-specific. Search lines are added or removed from
  23. the standard screen depending on the database being searched.

  25. Print Brief--The Print Brief option allows users to output a shortened
  26. version of any index citation to the printer, floppy drive, or hard disk.
  27. This shortened version includes only the base citation.
  28.  
  29. New Screen Saver Setup Option--A new Screen Saver Mode option eliminates
  30. the 'burn-in' problem caused by stationary screen images.

  32. Enhanced Access/Start-up--A new Command Line Parameter accelerates the
  33. loading of WILSONDISC on a network or multi-disc player environment.
  34.  
  35. Improved Installation--Software Version 2.4 includes several enhancements
  36. to the installation process, including revised instructional text,
  37. expanded identification of the software version being loaded, improved
  38. handling of special setup files, and a revised installation diskette.

  40. Beginning with WILSONDISCs dated March 1992, compressed data will be used
  41. as necessary in order to accommodate larger files on a single compact
  42. disc. All WILSONDISC subscribers must install software Version 2.4 to
