  1. (March 18, 1992 - Charlottesville, VA) -- Kenfil Distribution, one of the
  2. world's largest independent software distributors, has signed an agreement
  3. to distribute three products from Stairway Software Inc.

  5. As the distribution agreement was signed, WordPerfect Magazine announced
  6. that one of Stairway's products - ScreenExtender 2.0 for WordPerfect
  7. 5.0/5.1 - had won the magazine's annual Reader's Choice Award for
  8. excellence.

  10. The Kenfil distribution agreement covers ScreenExtender 2.0, as well as
  11. ScreenExtender 1.6 for WordStar, and MergeMaster.

  13. "We're very pleased to add Stairway's product line to Kenfil's distribution
  14. roster," says Gabriela Cesena, a Kenfil product manager. "ScreenExtender
  15. and MergeMaster are powerful, high-quality products that offer excellent
  16. value - as evidenced by the Reader's Choice Award from WordPerfect
  17. Magazine."

  24. ScreenExtender 2.0 for WordPerfect 5.0/5.1, ScreenExtender 1.6 for WordStar
  25. alleviate the need to scroll the screen left and right while editing a
  26. proportional-spaced document. ScreenExtender provides a variety of screen
  27. widths, ranging from 80 to 144 characters, allowing the user to view the
  28. entire width of their document while editing and avoid those bothersome
  29. horizontal scrolls.

  31. ScreenExtender also provides a variety of screen heights, ranging from 25
  32. to 60 rows, allowing the user to edit up to a page at a time on-screen.

  34. In addition to screen sizing, ScreenExtender for WordPerfect also displays
  35. bold, underline, italics, subscript, superscript, strikeout, double
  36. underline, SMALL CAPS, and bold underline on-screen while editing.

  38. MergeMaster is a software utility that produces word processor merge files
  39. from dBase and Paradox databases and their compatibles. MergeMaster's
  40. menu-driven interface and context-sensitive help make it easy to produce
  41. merge files.

  43. After a dBase or Paradox database is selected, MergeMaster displays the
  44. names and types of all fields in the database file. The user simply marks
  45. those fields which are to be translated, selects a word processor format
  46. and names the resultant merge file. MergeMaster then creates the merge
  47. file that can be used to personalize letters, billing statements, reports
  48. and other customized documents.
