  1. (Fort Lee, NJ, Mar. 18) -- Gilbert P. Williamson, chairman of the board and
  2. CEO of NCR Corporation, will provide his vision of a new way of computing
  3. on June 23, in his keynote address at the Tenth Annual PC EXPO in New
  4. York. The computer trade show takes place June 23-25, at the Jacob K.
  5. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

  7. Mr. Williamson will describe "The Future of the Industry -- A New Way of
  8. Computing," outlining the development in the immediate future of a
  9. worldwide, transaction-based economy linked by global computer networks
  10. with desktop systems in each corporation providing access to the
  11. technology resources of that enterprise.

  13. NCR is developing a suite of programs integrating applications, data,
  14. networks, and other resources. Mr. Williamson sees these working together
  15. in a cooperative computing environment -- networks of unlimited size
  16. providing users with detailed information.

  18. "Cooperative computing is the new way of computing -- a radical break with
  19. the past," said Mr. Williamson. "Cooperative computing is a key component
  20. in the growth of an electronic infrastructure enhancing global commerce
  21. and leading the information technology industry to a period of greater
  22. growth than in the past."

  24. Since last September, Mr. Williamson has served as chairman of the board
  25. and CEO of NCR Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary and the Networked
  26. Computing Resource of AT&T. Mr. Williamson joined NCR as a systems
  27. engineer in 1962. In 1986, Mr. Williamson was appointed executive vice
  28. president, and two years later was named president and appointed to the
  29. NCR board of directors.

  31. Mr. Williamson's address opens the PC EXPO show and conference program, the
  32. premier trade event for corporate volume buyers and resellers, featuring
  33. 70 sessions. Eight PC EXPO tutorials, all-day, information-intensive
  34. sessions, will take place on June 22.

  36. NCR will be showcasing their products on the PC EXPO show floor, together
  37. with other companies exhibiting the latest hardware, software and services
  38. for desktop and portable computers. Other exhibitors include: Adobe,
  39. Aldus, Apple Computer, AST Research, Borland, CLARIS, Compaq, DEC, Epson,
  40. GRiD, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Lotus, Microsoft, Novell, Sharp,
  41. Symantec, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, WordPerfect, and Zenith Data Systems
  42. among others.
