  2. Mastercam DRAFT, a low cost stand alone 3D mechanical Computer-Aided
  3. Design and Drafting system for personal computers. Mastercam DRAFT, which
  4. retails for U.S. $495, is the latest addition to the Mastercam family of
  5. CAD/CAM systems for milling, lathe, wire EDM, sheet metal
  6. fabrication/punching, plasma cutting, and lasers.

  8. Mastercam DRAFT is targeted at manufacturing personnel and design engineers
  9. who need 2D and 3D design and drafting capabilities for editing part files
  10. received from other CAD systems, re-working blueprints, or creating
  11. mechanical designs from scratch. If the part needs to be machined,
  12. Mastercam DRAFT integrates smoothly into Mastercam CAM systems, or will
  13. output to virtually any other CAD/CAM system.

  15. The product differs from other systems in that it combines full 3D geometry
  16. creation and isometric drafting capability with built-in bi-directional
  17. data translators for a fraction of the cost of systems with similar
  18. functionality. Data translators include IGES, DXF, ASCII, CADL, NFL,
  19. VDA-FS, SPAC and UNISURF. These translators often cost $500 to $5,000 each
  20. from other CAD vendors.

  22. Mastercam DRAFT lets you create standard geometric entities such as points,
  23. lines, arcs, fillets, chamfers, splines, ellipses, rectangles, and
  24. lettering. Advanced geometry like NURBS and parametric curves and surfaces
  25. are supported via the IGES data translator. The geometry is stored in a 3D
  26. double precision database. Finished drawings can be output to disk,
  27. printer or plotter.

  29. Mastercam DRAFT also supports full isometric dimensioning capabilities.
  30. Geometry can be dimensioned in any plane, from any view. The system
  31. provides full editing capabilities, including labeling entities; making
  32. notes, and editing text, position and leader/witness characteristics, and
  33. is adaptable to any international standard: ANSI, ISO, DIN and JIS.
