  11. I want to say right from the beginning that I am a Christian.  I won't make a 
  12. big deal about this in words very often.  In fact, you may peruse many issues 
  13. of MICRONEWS before you come across anything alluding to this fact.

  15. However, this being the virgin voyage of this column, perhaps it's a good, as 
  16. well as, appropriate time for proclamation.

  18. I'd like to start out with a quote from a man I respect, Peter Marshall.

  38. depends upon her accepting and demonstrating God's government."

  56. "Born again" has become a catch-phrase of our times.  It's applied to an 
  57. astonishing array of things and endeavors.  A newscaster refers to a resurging
  58. sports team as "born again."  Do-it-yourself books refer to reconstructed
  59. attics, basements, and rooms as "born again" spaces.  Not too many years ago,
  60. the Chrysler Corporation was on the brink of bankruptcy, now, it's "born
  61. again."  So it goes...

  63. Who coined this phrase, where did it come from, what did it mean?  The 
  64. originator was Jesus Christ.  He used the phrase in a conversation one evening
  65. with a man named Nicodemus, an esteemed Jewish lawyer. Nicodemus approached
  66. Jesus seeking spiritual guidance and got a seemingly nonsensical directive,
  67. "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

  78. Nicodemus was perplexed!  "What do you mean, `born again?'."  Be born again? 
  79. "How is this possible?"  Jesus explained that, just as a man is born physical-
  80. ly, he must be born spiritually.  He added for emphasis, "Marvel not,..you must
  81. be born again."     This "born again" experience is necessary for every person. 
  82. It occurs when one turns in genuine faith and spiritual repentance to Jesus
  83. Christ and receives the free gift of salvation.

  85. Our nation needs to be born again,  We live in a time of terrible trials and 
  86. temptations.  The way out is definitely not clear.  But, how can a nation be 
  87. reborn?  It's not likely that everyone in this country will voice a collective,
  88. cohesive prayer of faith and repentance.  However, there is a way.  When a
  89. great number of individuals turn to God, He sends renewal.

  106. The answer to our deepest needs is not to be found in better education, good 
  107. government, profitable commerce, or victory in the Middle East.  Our only hope
  108. rests firmly in Jesus Christ.

  110. America's rebirth is no noble aspiration, it is a desperate need.  This is a 
  111. crucial hour in time, I hope we rise to meet it.
