- We would like to bring a couple of very handy programs to your attention.
-
- They are:
-
- 1. DISKREFS for Norton's Utilities
-
- DISKREFS for Norton's Utilities is an on-line reference manual for...you
- guessed it...Norton's Utilities. If you use this great set of utility
- programs, this is for you! After getting DISKREFS for Norton's
- Utilities, you can toss your printed owner's manual in the trash.
-
- 2. DISKREFS for ProComm+
-
- DISKREFS for ProComm+, like DISKREFS for Norton's Utilities above, is a
- handy pop-uo TSR computerized manual. It has all the most commonly (and
- some not so common) commands a person might use during a telecommunication
- session. It also features a very complete troubleshooting guide, a glos-
- sary of telecommunication terms, and a complete listing of the Hayes
- (1200 baud/2400 baud) command set.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- ZEAK and ASSOCIATES intends to produce a number of DISKREF on-line manuals.
- All of them will use the same hypertext reader-engine used by MICRONEWS. One
- of the things this means is that we will always use the LeftShift - 5 key
- combination to activate the reader.
-
- Another is that if you have the reader already loaded, changing manuals is as
- easy as inserting the one you need and pressing Ctrl-Home.
-
- In the near future, we will have one ready for Ventura. One for WordPerfect
- 5.1 Macro Commands is in the works.
-
- If you would like to have any text (corporate manuals, resumes, technical
- manuals, etc.) converted to an on-line DISKREF, we can do it! Just give us a
- call....

- TELIX is a great communications package. Hats off to Colin Sampaleanu and
- company at EXIS, Inc. for the really wonderful job they've done...and are
- doing. Throughout T-FIG and its documentation you'll find multiple
- references to TELIX and EXIS, Inc. TELIX is a copyrighted (c) program.
-
- While TELIX is truly a great communications program, like anything new, it
- may be hard for the new user to properly set up. Although it comes with most
- of the configuration settings the way you need them to be, changing these can
- sometimes be confusing.
-
- Here at MICRONEWS, we've spent some time reading the TELIX users echo
- available on some OPUS/FIDO bulletin boards and noticed that most new users
- have the same problems. Unfalteringly, the same questions get repeated over
- and over again. The typical response from more seasoned users is to, "Read
- the full manual." That's well and good, but if you're new to
- telecommunications, the jargon may seem like gibberish to you. This leaves
- you in the lousy position of having read the darn thing but, still not
- understanding what to do. T-FIG solves that problem.
-
-
-
-
-
-
- We can't even begin to count the times that we needed a tidbit of info from
- the manual, exited TELIX, loaded the thing into an editor, List, Browse,
- etc., found what was needed, changed back to the TELIX directory, and
- finally, reran TELIX. Now, for those with lots of memory, this problem
- doesn't exist...but, it did for us. T-FIG gets around that by providing a
- quick reference to the TELIX documentation. Just take a look at the TIPS
- section.
-
- T-FIG is designed with the beginner in mind. It is a totally intractive
- tutor that runs like a script while TELIX is active. It reads the program's
- current configuration and displays many of these parameters to you along ith
- what is recommended. As you make changes using the Configuration Menu, T-FIG
- picks them up and updates its display.
-
- It allows the new user of TELIX to have easy access to the configuration
- information needed to make TELIX more easily used. It's not necessary to
- remember any commands to use T-FIG...it's completely automatic.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- In many cases the information you need for the most widely used applications
- is explained in T-FIG. Section 5: TIPS and HINTS contains stuff that causes
- most new users problems. If you have a particular problem, it's most likely
- here.
-
- All you have to do to get your very own copy is send $15.00 in check or money
- order to:
-
- ZEAK and ASSOCIATES
- P. O. Box 36056
- Sarasota, FL 34233

-
- Now, on to the reviews. This month we have four...
-
- TheDraw Version 3.31 <TD>
-
- Press the Down Arrow key for next selection...
-
- Along with TheDraw, we've located a really good tutorial for using it...and
- using ANSI in general. We've decided to include this archive (PAK) along
- with TheDraw. <TDTUT>
-
- The third is an inventory program. It's not fancy, but really gets the job
- done. <BEANCTR>
-
- WhereIs Version 4.4a...perhaps the best file finder around <WHEREIS>
-
- As always, we ask you to try these programs out. Then, if you like them
- enough to continue using them, please...please...PLEASE...register with the
- author. That way the whole idea of shareware marketing can continue.
-
- Pressing the Left Arrow key will jump you back to the menu...
