- DAZZLE
- version number: 4.1f date: 17 March 1991
-
- Requirements :
- PC/XT/AT computer, color EGA or VGA, MSDOS 2.x or higher, no
- experience necessary.
-
- DAZZLE uses about 200KB of memory, DAZE uses about 64KB.
-
- Purpose:
- Graphics Display and Interactive Image Generation.
-
- Features:
- An interactive color kaleidoscopic program that provides many hours of
- changing visual viewscapes. Performance art for the eyes using over
- 30 drawing algorithms and an assortment of "fades" and special effects
- to exercise a wide range of available display techniques. Providing an
- entertaining excursion through the capabilities of PC graphics
- technology. The non-interactive self generating mode is an effective
- attention getter with a variety of uses; in trade shows, in showrooms,
- in schools, ad infinitum.
-
- Enhancements:
- Version 4.1 introduces interactive control and configuration
- capabilities for the self generating mode of operation. There now is
- an on-line help system. A new configuration menu allows the user to
- customize the program's displays. The program can now be toggled
- between self generating "Auto" mode, and interactive "Semi-Auto" mode.
- The configuration file used is an editable text file, and can be
- loaded at program startup as a command line option. New color palettes
- can be invoked for any image at any time, even for a frozen image. The
- antiviral check can be bypassed for faster program invocation. The
- executable file size is compressed, using less disk space. The
- documentation has been significantly expanded.
-
- Version 4.1a has code to make the program tolerant of various keyboard
- speed-up utilities that adjust the "typematic" rate of key repeats.
- This stabilizes program performance across a broader range of systems.
- The "/K" command line option is added to control this new feature.
-
- Version 4.1b has improved CPU detection logic during program startup
- that prevents program aborts in some systems with the SMARTDRV.SYS
- extended memory cache. 4.1c has improved MATHERR handler that prevents
- program abort with out-of-range random numbers going into math
- functions. 4.1d has slightly better antiviral messages to help in
- problem reporting. 4.1e has minor code corrections for use with C++
- compiler. 4.1f corrected for use with QEMM.
-
- See DAZZLE.DOC for details of these and other new key functions.
