  3.                              The DV Tree Manifesto

  5.            DV Tree is intended to fill a gap in the world of DOS file
  6.    managers and shells - that gap, specifically, is for users of Quarterdeck
  7.    Office Systems' multitasking environment DESQview.  DV Tree is
  8.    DESQview-specific, meaning that if you don't run it under DESQview, you
  9.    can't run it all.  One of beauties of DESQview, in contrast to other
  10.    IBM-compatible operating systems such as OS/2 or Windows, is that it can
  11.    multitask just about any DOS software WITHOUT modification - essentially,
  12.    if it'll run under DOS, it'll run under DESQview.  For DESQview users,
  13.    this is both good and bad, good in that they can run whatever they already
  14.    own without having to buy operating-environment specific software, bad in
  15.    that developers, knowing that whatever they write will run under DESQview
  16.    anyway, tend not to write anything that won't run OUTSIDE of DESQview -
  17.    all this meaning that software written to take advantage of DESQview's
  18.    unique environment rarely gets written except by Quarterdeck itself.  DV
  19.    Tree, I hope, will prove this tendency ill-advised.
