- This is the Grand Central Message System, version 1.01. Grand
- Central (or GC for short) is a high-performance message and mail door
- for RBBS bulletin boards. GC is distributed as a shareware product, and
- a $35 registration fee is requested if the program is installed for
- public or private use. See page two of the GC-DOCS.TXT file for details
- on the rights and responsibilities of GC users and distributors.
-
- You can set up a trial GC system on your PC in under 10 minutes,
- without touching a modem or running RBBS! See the first 10 pages of
- the GC-DOCS.TXT file for details.
-
- The documentation is 55 pages long and can be printed on any standard
- ASCII printer by issuing the following DOS command:
- PRINT GC-DOCS.TXT
-
- Here is a brief description of the files that are distributed in

- VERSION 1.01 NEWS BULLETINS
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
-
- GC 1.01 IS MINOR UPDATE FOR VERSION 1.0
- ---------------------------------------
- There are bugfixes in several of the programs (see BUGLIST.TXT
- file). The most visible bug was one that prevented the remote RBBS sysop
- from logging onto GC.
-
-
- CALLING ALL COMPUSERVE FANS
- ---------------------------
- I finally have a CompuServe account! Feel free to contact me at
- 72510,1553 about any GC issue. I'm not currently active in the IBMBBS
- SIG since I'm still learning the CompuServe user interface.

- UPDATE ON THE NATIONAL GC SUPPORT BBS
- -------------------------------------
- As you may have read in the GC docs, I am planning to put up a
- national GC Support BBS. It will most likely go up sometime during
- September or October. You can access it by calling the regular support
- number, waiting for my answering machine to answer (3 or 4 rings), and
- then dialing two Touch-Tone digits. The answering machine message will
- have instructions on exactly what to do. This will be an unusual modem
- arrangement, so it may take you several tries to get your modem's dialing
- delay just right. Sorry, it won't be PC Pursuit-able since I live in a
- rural area.
-
-
- GC-X00 FILE NO LONGER DISTRIBUTED
- ---------------------------------
- Starting with this version, the X00 FOSSIL driver will no longer
- be distributed to BBSes. It will now be distributed only on disks
- sent to registered users. X00 drivers, as well as its cousins BNU
- and FOSSCOMM, are found on many BBSes throughout the country.
