-
- FMSSORT is a one step utility that allows a sysop to distribute a
- listing of the FMS file directory by directory sub sorted by date.
- The newest file in each directory will be listed first. The title
- page is a copy of your directory of directories. Several files must
- be in the same subdirectory. Use only copies not the original used
- by RBBS.
-
- 1). FMS.DIR - The master file directory used by RBBS-PC
- 2). DIR.DIR - Your Directory of Directories
- 3). DIR.CAT - Catalog file of valid directories
- 4). FMSSORT.CFG - The Configuration file created by FMSSORT.EXE
-
- FMSSORT.EXE may reside anyplace on the disk, or in the path.
-
- Default RBBS-PC filenames were used here, these files may be named
- any valid dos filename. FMSSORT.EXE will create FMSSORT.CFG the first
- time it is executed.
-
- Place all the above files in a subdirectory and then execute FMSSORT.EXE
- to create the file FMSSORT.CFG.
-
- Some confusion has been brought to my attention by a friend doing testing
- for me. The problem arose when he tried to configure FMSSORT without a mouse.
- For clarity:
-
- Version 1.1 Changes
-
- In the configuration edit windows you will be prompted with a RBBS-PC default
- filename for all except your specific output filename. I used as a indicator
- the directory by directory filename for my RBBS-PC, KOKODIR.TXT. In the edit
- window you will see "*.*" instead of a RBBS-PC default filename. If you do not
- backspace over the "*.*" wildcards and type in your own filename you will be
- prompted with a directory list of all the files in your current directory.
-
- Here is where the problem was.
-
- If you have no mouse just how do you get the up/down arrows to move the file
- pointer to select a file from the list.
-
- 1) You can use the TAB key to switch to the < Cancel > option and return to
- the previous window and type in the filename required.
-
- 2) Observe the flashing cursor.
- OK Selected looks like this <_OK >
- OK not selected looks like this < OK >
-
- 3) Cancel selected looks like this <_Cancel >
- Cancel not selected looks like this < Cancel >
-
- Now when the window opens OK is selected, push the tab key once and Cancel
- is selected and OK is not. Push TAB again and neither OK or Cancel are selected
- and the UP/DOWN arrows will now function as a pointer to select a file from the
- listing.
-
- Version 2.0 Changes

- * If you are using versions 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2 and are upgrading to version 2.0 *
- * delete your old FMSSORT.CFG and create a new configuration file. *

-
- FMSSORT.EXE will now accept descriptions of almost any length. This value
- must match its counterpart in RBBS-PC.DEF.

- FMSSORT.EXE may be operated in a automatic mode by using the switch -A or
- -a.
