- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- - Welocome to TC - Todays Callers
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- What is TC ?
-
- TC is a little program that displays who has called today to
- Your Remote Access BBS and Your FrontDoor mailer. It also shows
- the calls Your mailer has made.
-
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- - Reason ?
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- As a Remote Access sysop i wanted to see who had called so far today.
- There are two ways of doing this. Looking at the log, or log on to
- the BBS and execute a menutype 51 "Show todays Callers". Both where to
- slow for my purposes. I wanted a quick glance at todays caller nothing
- more. For FrontDoor i could simply press Alt-I for the Inbound
- history but i had to figure out myself wich where todays calls and
- I didn't get a summary of how many they were.
-
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- - Solution !
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- The solution is simple. Just execute TC.EXE and you will get a list
- of todays callers. Looking just like the list in RA. Nothing fancy
- at all but everything i needed.

- The TC-Package is subject to the following license terms and
- conditions.
-
- * The TC-package is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
- warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
- the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
- The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
- which may result from the use of the TC-package.
-
- * The TC-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
- charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your
- friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of another
- system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
- computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet
- to provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.
-
- * The TC-package, all programs, the documentation and support files are
- copyrighted 1991 by Patrik Sjöberg. All rights are reserved.
- You may copy this package for backup purposes. You may also copy and
- share unmodified copies of the whole package, providing that the
- copyright notice is reproduced and included on all copies.
-
- * You may not sell the product for a fee and/or distribute the product
- along with other products without written permission, nor may you
- modify or remove the Copyright Notices from the programs or the
- documentation files. User clubs, if they are NOT commercial, are
- allowed to ask a small amount of money for distribution and storage
- when they want to share this package amongst their members.
-
- * It is forbidden to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer,
- decompile and/or disassemble the software in the TC-package.
- Patching the medium at places that carry the software is seen as a
- program change and is also forbidden.
-
- * Non-commercial users can get a licence for the usage up to this
- release of the TC-package for a small amount of money. Look into
- the details later in this document. Previous registered users will
- receive a big reduction to upgrade to the newer versions.
-
- * Commercial usage of the TC-Package will cost somewhat more. Also, a so
- called 'closed' Bulletin Board System (a system where the user must
- pay direct to the SysOp to get full access) has to pay more than a
- Non-commercial user. Usage of the TC-Package on a BBS with 3 (three)
- lines or more is considered as 'closed BBS' usage also.

- - How to use TC
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Note that TC will try to detect if you are running Under DesqView.
- If DesqView (DV) is detected the program will use the virtual
- videobuffer supplied by DV. Also the program will give away time
- slices to other tasks when it is idle.
-
- TC depends entirely on two Environment varibles called "RA" and "FD".
-
- This you set by typing ...
-
- C:\> SET RA=<The path to your bbs> ... at the DOS prompt.
-
- Please note that there should not be any Spaces between the "RA" and
- the "=" sign.
-
- If you wish to check wether you already has this one set just type...
-
- C:\> SET
-
- ... at the DOS prompt and all the variables in your environment
- will be listed.
-
- The same goes for FrontDoors environment variable called "FD".
-
- After this is done just type TC and you will be able to see todays
- callers.
-
- But if you do not wish to set the variable RA then simply execute TC
- from the Home Directory of Remote Access.
-
- TC is smart enough to know if you have set the option
- "Exclude sysop from list" in RACONFIG. If set to YES Your
- name will not be shown in the List generated by LC.
- This of course is also depending on the Name you Entered in RACONFIG
- as the name of the sysop.
-
- Another thing that TC will get from the RA Config file is the name
- of your system. So if that one isn't correctly displayed by TC please
- check the setup. And Your Nodenumber as Well. TC assumes that the
- first NodeNumber in your RA setup is your primary and that is the
- one that is displayed.
-
- After all this you simply type TC and press the Enter key at the
- DOS prompt. A list of todays callers will be seen.
-
-
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- - TC Used by your users.
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Just as well as i am peeking at todays callers now and then so does
- my users. And a question that keep popping up is why the BBS has been
- busy and no user has been ON-Line. The answer to this is mostly file-
- requests made by other SysOps. And having to explain this over and
- over i got tired. So i simply added Fossil support for TC so that
- my users could se not only todays callers but todays inbound and
- outbound mailcalls.
-
- This way they can see allmost all activity on my board.
-
- To set up TC for remote usage simply add the command line FOSSIL.
-
- TC FOSSIL
-
- Will tell TC to start looking for the DORINFOX.DEF file in the current
- directory or the one pointed to by the RA environment variable.
-
- TC will from that file get hold of information if the user has ANSI or
- Avatar set and use the proper graphic mode. TTY users will also be
- happy since no graphics code are sent to them. TC also checks if the
- baudrate is valid or if it is in local mode.
-
- Simply install TC as a menutype 7 in your Remote Access and replace it
- with you current menutype 51.
-
- If You do not wish TC to show what the users see add the parameter
- SNOOPOFF and TC will only show a status line on the local side.
-
- Ex:
-
- TC FOSSIL SNOOPOFF
-
- Would tell TC not to the display anything but a status line on the
- local screen. Snoop can be toggled on/off from the local keyboard
- by pressing space.
-
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- - All command line parameters
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- FOSSIL - Activate remote usage
-
- NOSNOOP - Turn local screen write off
-
- NORA - Do not show Remote Access lastcallers
-
- HANDLE - Show the users handles instead of real name
- If no handle availiable real name will be shown.
-
- /D:<name> - Name and path of the DORINFOX.DEF file, optional
-
- /?,-?,? - Show valid commandline switches.
-
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- - What is new ?
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- 2.01
-
- * Removed automatic detect of Remote Access version > 1.01 due to
- problems with RA not initiating the version info correctly on all
- systems.
-
- * Added switch to turn of display of Remote Access lastcallers.
-
- * Added switch to let the sysop define where to find tha dorinfoX.def
- file and what it is called.
-
- * TC wasn't checking the carrier until the first prompt for
- remote input. This resulted in the first screen being show even
- if no user was online. Corrected.
-
- 2.05
-
- * This is an inbetween release just to catch up with Remote
- Access version 1.10.
-
- * Also supports the hidden attribute users can have. If they
- have TC will skip them while displaying todays callers.
