  1. RemoteAccess Manager v1.00 - January 2, 1992

  4. There are a few things you have to know before you even start to set up
  5. this program.
  6.  
  7. 1) Under NO circumstances should you compress RAMAN.EXE with a program
  8.    such as Pklite.  RAMAN.EXE contains internal overlays and you will
  9.    mess things up if you try it.  RAMANCFG.EXE is ok to compress.
  10.  
  11. 2) Apparently, FrontDoor locks it's logfile.  Because of this, RAMAN
  12.    cannot access it to archive it while FrontDoor is loaded.  Also,
  13.    if you have RemoteAccess and FrontDoor writing to the same logfile,
  14.    RAMAN will not be able to access the logfile if FrontDoor is loaded
  15.    while you run RAMAN.  The option to clean the user file also will
  16.    come up with a "File not found" error if RemoteAccess and RAMAN
  17.    try to access it at the same time.  RemoteAccess will win that
  18.    fight.  Both of these problems are being looked into, and the
  19.    next version of RAMAN hopefully will be able to deal with this,
  20.    but right now I am not sure of how to deal with file locking.
  21.    Please note that the two above problems would not be of any 
  22.    concern in a single line environment since RAMAN will not be
  23.    running at the same time as either RemoteAccess or FrontDoor.

  25. 3) READ THE DOCS!!!  If you do not read the docs, you will probably 
  26.    not be able to use this program properly.  The docs are only 19 pages
  27.    long, so it's not like you have to read an encyclopedia to get this
  28.    thing running.  They FULLY describe each and every aspect of RAMAN.
  29.    If you start griping and complaining that RAMAN will not work and 
  30.    it turns out that you didn't read the docs, you're going to feel
  31.    very stupid.
