  9.   What i will  be telling you  below you must  understand and agree  upon
  10.   BEFORE you  use any  part of  the FEBBS-Package.  The FEBBS-Package  is
  11.   subject to the following license terms and conditions.

  13.   * The  FEBBS-package  is  supplied  as  is.  The  author disclaims  all
  14.     warranties, expressed or implied,  including, without limitation, the
  15.     warranties of  merchantability and  of fitness for  any purpose.  The
  16.     author assumes  no liability  for damages,  direct or  consequential,
  17.     which may result from the use of the FEBBS-package.

  19.   * The FEBBS-package is a "shareware program"  and is provided at no    
  20.     charge to the  user for evaluation. Feel  free to share it  with your
  21.     friends,  but  please do  not  give it  away  altered or  as  part of
  22.     another   system. The  essence  of  "user-supported"  software  is to
  23.     provide personal computer   users with quality software  without high
  24.     prices,  and yet to provide incentive  for programmers to continue to
  25.     develop new products.

  27.   * The FEBBS-package, all programs, the  documentation and support files
  28.     are copyrighted 1991 by  Patrik Sjöberg. All rights are reserved. You
  29.     may copy  this package  for backup purposes.  You may  also copy  and
  30.     share  unmodified  copies of  the whole  package, providing  that the
  31.     copyright notice is reproduced and included on all copies.

  33.   * You may not sell the product for a fee and/or distribute  the product
  34.     along with  other products  without written  permission, nor may  you
  35.     modify  or remove  the  Copyright Notices  from the  programs  or the
  36.     documentation files.  User clubs,  if  they are  NOT commercial,  are
  37.     allowed to ask a  small amount of money for distribution  and storage
  38.     when they want to share this package amongst their members.

  40.   * It  is  forbidden  to modify,  adapt,  translate,  reverse  engineer,
  41.     decompile   and/or  disassemble the  software  in the  FEBBS-package.

  45.   * Non-commercial users  can get  a licence  for  the usage  up to  this
  46.     release of the FEBBS-package  for a small  amount of money.  Previous
  47.     registered  users will  receive  a big  reduction to  upgrade  to the
  48.     newer versions.

  50.   * Commercial  usage of FEBBS will cost somewhat more. Also, a so called
  51.     'closed' Bulletin  Board System  (a system  where the  user must  pay
  52.     direct  to the  SysOp to  get full  access) has  to pay  more  than a
  53.     Non-commercial   user. Usage  of the  FEBBS-Package on  a BBS with  3
  54.     (three) lines or more is considered as 'closed bbs' usage also.

  62.   There are several ways of registrating the FEBBS-package. It is     all
  63.   depending on  the environment  where FEBBS  will be  running. Read  the
  64.   disclaimer above before  you decide what type  of registration     that
  65.   suits your environment.

  67.   NON-Commercial registration :

  69.   Regarding  the  time  and  effort  that has  been  have  put  into this
  70.   product, the NON-commercial registration is simple and rather cheap.

  72.   Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  74.   - The license  for running ONE  copy of the  FEBBS-package on any      
  75.     computer in  a NON-commercial  environment. Although  you must  treat
  76.     the FEBBS-Package like a  book. That is, it can't be run on more than
  77.     one CPU at a time.

  79.   - A Serial number/Key  File that makes your  Copy of FEBBS licensed  to
  80.     You.  This serial number/Key File can  be used on subsequent releases
  81.     for at least a year, Any  copy can be used, also those  obtained from
  82.     Shareware sources like a BBS.

  84.   - The license  for NON-commercial usage  can not be  used in  any other
  85.     environment than  the  NON-commercial environment  itself.  Upgrading
  86.     to a commercial license or to a license for a closed BBS can be  done
  87.     by paying  the difference in  price between the  current license  and
  88.     the new license;

  90.   The license does  NOT include any update  service as described later   
  91.   nor does it include the 90 days support service.

  94.   Closed BBS registration:

  96.   When you use the FEBBS-Package on a it on a so called  'closed' BBS you
  97.   must pay for a closed BBS license.

  99.   The  definition of a  closed BBS is a  BBS where the users  must pay to
  100.   the Sysop to get  full access. Also a BBS with  three (3) or more lines
  101.   must pay a closed BBS License.

  103.   Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  105.   - The  license  for running  ONE  copy  of  the  FEBBS-package  on  any
  106.     computer in  a closed BBS  environment. Although you  must treat  the

  135.   making  any money  from  the  usage. It  is  still  being run  from  an
  136.   commercial environment.

  165.     Method of payment.

  168.   There are  several ways of transferring  the license fee to  me. Common
  169.   for all of them is that they  should be made payable to Patrik  Sjöberg
  170.   and all fees should be made payable in SEK - Swedish Krones.

  172.   - By postal  money order or  international money order.  Normal cheques
  173.     will cost  me extra money  to cash, so add  SEK 40:- for  transfer if
  174.     you use  a cheque. The real rate for  transferring a Foreign check is
  175.     SEK 70  :- so i  am only  charging you some  of the amount  for this.
  176.     The conversion charge only applies to Non-Swedish cheques.

  178.   - By Postal Giro. My Postal Giro account in Stockholm is 82 04 89 -  3.
  179.     The Postal  Giro is  also known  as PostGiro, Postcheckkonto,  Compte
  180.     Chèques postaux, PostRekening, Girobank Account  all depending on the
  181.     country you live in.

  185.   - By credit card. Simply fill out the registration form and mail it.

  205.   I know  that it  should not  be to  hard to crack  the few  things that
  206.   appear  in  the unregistered  version  but  that's not  the  point. The
  207.   program still works.  It is *Not*  Crippled in any  other way! I  don't
  208.   believe that a program  can be made full-proof to hackers,  and such, I
  209.   don't  find it useful to create  difficult algorithms. Many people know
  210.   by now  that when people don't  register, the program  will die, sooner
  211.   or later.  So if you wish to see future enhancements  of FEBBS ( and my
  212.   other programs ) then Please Register.

  250.   You might want  to purchase a copy  of the printed manual.  Manuals are

  257.   How much  I still  would like to  send you  all an upgrade  for free  I
  258.   can't do that.  My phonebills wouldn't stand  it. So if you  would like
  259.   an upgrade of  FEBBS when  it sees the  light of day  you will have  to
  260.   enter  the  update service.  International  users  who use  FEBBS  will
  261.   benefit  most  of this  feature.  Paying  the fee  for  update service,
  262.   entitles you to:

  264.   - Receiving every new  release for the  period of one  year or 10      
  265.     releases (which  ever comes first)  on diskette media  by first-class
  266.     Airmail.

  268.   - The  diskettes are  first-class (no no-name  or white  diskettes) and
  269.     will contain a special diskette label;

  271.   The  disk(s)  will be  mailed  the  same  day  as the  new  version  is
  272.   released.

  278.   The FEBBS-Package has full  support from its  Author. New versions  are
  279.   under constant development.  And the Author is always  open to the user
  280.   input. So if  you feel that something  is missing or that  something is
  281.   "backwards" let me know  and i'll have a look  at it and maybe  in some
  282.   future version you'll find it implemented.

  284.   As a registered user you are entitled to :

  286.   - Free support.
  287.  
  288.   - This support consists of  answering questions and fixing any  program
  289.     errors the  user submits  to Author  in person.  Only program  errors
  290.     that can be reproduced  and that interfere  with the intended use  of
  291.     the  program as  outlined  in the  documentation will  be  fixed. The
  292.     author can ask you  to give some special data to  correct the problem
  293.     and  can  ask  you  to  check  if  you  own  a  valid   copy  of  the
  294.     FEBBS-package.

  296.   - The author  may choose  not to  fix any  problem that  is related  to
  297.     hardware and/or software  configurations that causes  one or more  of
  298.     the  programs  in the  FEBBS-package  not  to run  correctly.  If the
  299.     Author chooses to  NOT correct such a problem you are NOT entitled to
  300.     a refund of the license money.

  302.   Unregistered users will only receive support  if i have the time. I  do
  303.   NOT guarantee that non-registered  users will get any response from the
  304.   Author.
