- A magical tic file mail warning system.
-
-
- Created by Alain Tremblay of Fidonet 1:249/120
-
-
- What is Ticpost?
-
- Ticpost creates messages in the standard message packet format
- from your tick file area. It can also create netmail packet to a
- specified destination. Another capacity of Ticpost is to skip specified
- areas, it can also send message for a specified area to a specified echomail
- area. When your SDS or Tick file area receives file, they normally come in
- with a file using the extension tic. Ticpost takes this information and creates
- one message for each file area. These messages contain information about,
- which file area the file was received into, the filename, the file origin,
- it's description and finally it's size. The messages are placed into a
- Fido (tm) compatible mail packet for publication in an echomail area or as
- netmail message(s).
-
- What's new with version 1.3.
-
- Quite a few things are new with this third release of ticpost.
- The major upgrade lies with the installation/configuration program, now even
- beginners should find that setting up Ticpost is easy. Not that it was hard
- before, now it's only easier :-> Also a new exclusion file call nopost.ctl
- will let you specify tic area to exclude, areas such as private one should
- not be posted out for all to see . . . It also can reset the date of the
- incoming file to the current date and time, this permit these files to show
- up in your new files listing and when a user use the newfile option on your
- BBS. A few bug fixes are included in this release, the major one being that
- it will now respect all node numbers, including those of far away networks.
-
-
- How do I use Ticpost?
-
- Do it the easy way, unpack the archive containing ticpost, type
- install and follow the instruction, it's really that easy. Also read the
- information below on how to use the nopost.ctl file.
-
- Ticpost should be run prior to processing your tic files, run ticpost,
- it will create a mail packet and place it in your inbound directory. Then
- process your tic file as per normal, once this is complete, run your mail
- utility as you would for any normal incoming mail packet. That is all there
- is to it.
-
- Example ;
-
- if exist \max\fd\files\*.tic goto tickit
- goto mailin
- :tickit
- ticpost
- tick
- goto mailin
-
- :mailin
-
- Syntax.
-
- Ticpost <configuration file>
-
- If the configuration file is optional, ticpost will automatically use
- ticpost.cfg if no configuration file is specified on the command line. Also
- note that install will only generate ticpost.cfg, if you want to create other
- configuration file using install, simply copy them to another name.
-
-
- Ticpost.cfg the configuration file.
-
- The configuration file is a straight ascii text file, COMMENTS ARE
- NOT SUPPORTED AT THIS TIME! The file should consist of at least 11 lines, plus
- the some specific area redirection if necessary. The order in which the lines
- are placed is important. Please follow the example configuration file
- included with this package or read on for more information, or simply use
- install.exe and enjoy the color show . . .
-
- Line #1
- The path to your inbound mail area. Ticpost will place the message(s) it
- creates there. It must be terminated with a backslash.
- Example:
- f:\quickbbs\binkley\netmail\
-
- Line #2
- The path where the incoming tic files are located. This line should be
- terminated with a backslash.
- Example:
- e:\turbo\
-
- Line #3
- Your bbs name.
- Example:
- Mad Al's BBS
-
- Line #4
- Your origin node number in the form: Zone:Net/Node.
- Example:
- 1:249/120
-
- Line #5
- The destination node for the ticpost message. Normally it would be the same
- as your node number. Under special circumstances it can be change to suit
- your need.
- Example:
- 1:249/120
-
- Line #6
- The name of the echomail area in which you want the message(s) placed into.
- Example:
- Sysop249
-
- If you desire to you netmail rather than echomail place NETMAIL there
- instead and it will send netmail packet instead to the destination node speci-
- fied above in line 5.
-
- Line #7
- Your name, or the name you wish to use for the sender's name in the message(s)
- Example:
- Alain Tremblay
-
- Line #8
- The origin line you wish to have at the end of the message(s).
- Example:
- Mad Al's BBS, SDS file online at 387-2404
-
- Line #9 and #10 are optional. These line are line that will be put at the
- end of the message(s). Uses this to let other know that it is file
- requestable or any other message you wish to carry. If you do not wish for
- any comment lines, simply leave them blank, yet they still must be there with
- at least a return.
-
- Example:
- These Files are availlable for file request.
- Ces fillières sont disponible pour demande automatique.
-
- Line #11
- This line can contain the statement RESETDATE (capitalisation is unimportant).
- If the resetdate statement is specified the file creation date for the incoming
- file will be set to your current time and date. This is usefull to ensure that
- they will show up when doing a new file scan on your BBS.
-
- Example:
- RESETDATE
-
- Nopost.ctl
-
- The nopost.ctl file is a file use to exclude specific tic area while
- processing. Let's say you have set up a private tic file area with a friend.
- This area carry some source code for a project that you would not want everyone
- to see when and where the files are travelling. All you'd have to do is place
- the name of those areas in a file name nopost.ctl, place nopost.ctl in the
- ticpost directory and voila! Here is an example, I do not wish for the area
- 'TICPDEV', the development tic area for this program, to be stated in the
- ticpost messages placed in an echo area. So I simply create a one line ASCII
- file like this. . .
-
- TICPDEV
-
- And bingo, this area will show no more!
-
- Install.exe
-
- Using install.exe is easy, so there is little to be said on the
- subject.
-
- - It uses standard word perfect/wordstar command for editing (if you need'em).
- - You may shell to Dos by pressing F5 almost anywhere in the program, use
- exit to return to install.
