  1. With the UltraBBS v2.08 package, you should have received three files:

  3. UBBS208A.ZIP    Contains executables and main files
  4. UBBS208B.ZIP    Contains executables, documentation, help, & sample files
  5. UBBS208C.ZIP    Contains non-overlaid version of executable
  6.  
  7. You should unZIP UBBS208A.ZIP into a \UBBS\ directory. UBBS208B.ZIP must be
  8. unZIPped with PKUNZIP's "-d" option to create the necessary directories to
  9. place its files in (FILES\ and HELP\).  If you wish to use the non-overlaid
  10. version, then unZIP UBBS208C.ZIP and rename its UBBSNO.EXE file to UBBS.EXE.
  11. The overlaid version requires much less memory (see the documentation for the
  12. exact requirements) but operates a bit slower, especially if you have a slow
  13. hard disk.

  15. As packaged, UltraBBS comes with all paths set to directories on drive D:.  If
  16. you use another drive, remember, you must change ALL drive letters--in the BBS
  17. parameters, the conference setup, the DAT files' setup sections, etc.  Also
  18. remember to create all necessary directories when first getting started!

  20. To run UltraBBS, you will need several files in addition to what is included in
  21. the UBBS208?.ZIP files.  You will need a FOSSIL driver (common ones are X00,
  22. OPUSCOMM, and BNU), and you'll need DSZ and BIMODEM (if you use the protocol
  23. batch files that came with the package).  These programs are available on most
  24. BBSes.

  26. The UltraBBS documentation, ULTRABBS.TXT, is designed to be printed and may not
  27. look perfectly normal when viewed on-screen.  It can be printed with:

  29. COPY ULTRABBS.TXT PRN
  30.   
  31. The file CONTACT.TXT lists places where the author may be contacted.  If you
  32. have any problems, suggestions, or bug reports, please report them to one of
  33. these places.  Many new features are already planned for the next version and
  34. your suggestions would be appreciated.
