  5. TPBoard is a full featured bulletin board system for PC-DOS
  6. and MS-DOS computers.  With the release of version 7.1, 
  7. remains at the forefront of computer bulletin board systems.  
  8.  
  9. The essential philosophy of TPBoard is minimum maintenance.
  10. It is not unusual to have a TPBoard system running in less 
  11. than an hour!  After all, the amount of time required for you 
  12. to maintain your system will directly affect how much enjoyment 
  13. you get out of your system.  We've even heard testimonials from 
  14. people who have tried to set up the "feline" board and finally 
  15. switched to TPBoard after weeks of frustration.  A difficult 
  16. and complicated setup isn't our idea of a Wild! time.

  18. While most bulletin boards appear to be the same from a
  19. caller's perspective, most differ widely in how they achieve 
  20. the very same features.  For example, many bbs packages store 
  21. file descriptions in simple ascii text files (PCBoard).  While 
  22. such files can speed up global searches slightly, they make 
  23. management of your Files areas a virtual nightmare.  Conversely, 
  24. all of TPBoard's important databases -- the Files, Messages, and 
  25. Users files -- are multi-keyed btree indexed for super fast 
  26. access.  You won't sit for minutes waiting for a new mail check 
  27. as I have when calling other systems!

  155. Perhaps as important, TPBoard has grown and continues to grow
  156. based on user comments and user suggestions.  It is NOT unusual
  157. for a sysop to offer a suggestion for a new feature (or a twist
  158. on an old feature) only to have the feature implemented and 
  159. available to all users in a matter of DAYS!  Try to do that with
  160. the so-called boards!  Releases are scheduled about every 3-4
  161. months to get new features out as quickly as possible; most boards
  162. have releases every 1-2 years!
