- WHAT IS ZIPVIEW
-
-
- ZIPVIEW is a BBS door program that allows callers to
- browse through the contents of ZIP files. Any BBS system that
- allows executing external programs can run ZIPVIEW.
- Note that it is the responsibility of the host BBS
- system to ensure that the caller does not stay in
- ZIPVIEW over his allotted board time. In GT, for example,
- this is easily accomplished by running ZIPVIEW from
- a batch file, where DOORMAIN/CHEKTIME are used before executing
- ZIPVIEW.
-
-
- THE FIRST TIME
-
- When ZIPVIEW is run the first time, it checks to see
- if the copy has been registered or not. If it has not
- then the program will ask you if you wish to register.
- If you answer NO, then the program will install itself
- as a NON-REGISTERED copy. Note that you may install
- only once.
-
- If you answer YES, then the program will ask you for
- your NAME and CRC password, which are then installed
- into the program permanently. If an invalid name and
- crc are entered, then they are also recorded permanently
- into the program.
-
-

- the currently selected zipfile and their statistics.

- will prompt the user for a zipfilename before proceeding.
- The listing is paginated and at each page break, you
- have the option of viewing one of the subfiles.

- When this option is selected and there is no zipfile

-
-
- GENERAL
-
- ZIPVIEW takes control of the control-C and control-BREAK
- interrupts and will not allow the user to access these
- in order to break out of the program. The interrupts are
- restored when the program exits.
-
- As with all IDC software, ZIPVIEW is written in assembler
- to provide the smallest utility possible. All of the
- decompression routines are built in, as they are in all
- IDC data compression products.
-
-
- THE ZIP FORMAT
-
- The ZIP file format was developed as a joint venture by
- IDC and PKWARE. The format was released into the public domain
- on Feb. 14, 1989 in a joint press release. We feel that the
- ZIP file format offers much over older generations of formats,
- namely the LBR and ARC formats. The ZIP format is the next
- generation in the evolution of data compression and librarying
- software.
-
-
- TO REGISTERED USERS
-
- You are encouraged to make copies of ZIPVIEW and give
- them to friends, upload them to BBS's as long as you
- do not reveal your registered CRC numbers also. You may
- pass around copies of the original unregistered version
- as long as no fee is charged and the program is not
- used in any commercial endeavors.
