- Strategy
- ~~~~~~~~
- Well, Strategy is probably the hardest part about Super Dominions. First
- off one persons Strategy dosen't always work when used by another person. You
- must be the final judge at how you are going to play the game. Below is some
- Strategies that will mostlikely keep you in the game, for the most part, till
- the end. (That is provided you survive the first four turns of the game.)
-
- 1.) First off you have got to get a map of your sector of the game and plot
- out all of the other active and non-active player empires around you.
-
- 2.) Make a list of those empires and send them a message. Communication is
- paramount to playing a game of this size and scope. Tell them anything,
- even to go to hell if you like, but talk. You may find a good ally or
- discover a enemy quickly enough to keep an eye on him in the future.
-
- 3.) Spy on all the planets around you and write them on your map and if you
- have a big enough map also compute the distances from your planets.
-
- 4.) The problem with most people playing the game is how fast to expand.
- Well, that question is always the toughest to answer. You must expand
- quickly, because the game is always a race for planets, but not to quick
- that your fleet gets attritioned so badly that the new planets can't
- replace the loses. Because you always have neighbors who covet your
- planets and may attack you when they see that your are weak.
-
- 5.) You should initially bypass planets that have a habitability of 30% or
- less, unless that is all that is around you, because the higher the
- Habitability the higher your production and population growth will be.
-
- 6.) Always protect your high habitability planets, because they ARE YOUR
- EMPIRE. With out a production base you will find that players around
- you with higher habitability planets will make more ships and have
- higher technology.
-
- 7.) Don't forget to raise the industrial level of most of your planets to
- 1.0 if they are low. Those fraction will pay for themselves in the long
- run.
-
- 8.) Once you have established a base of planets, say around 10 or so, start
- to raise you Tech Level. This will give you ships that will give you
- more bang for the buck. I suggest that you study the ship classes on
- the instruction section. You will find that some ships have advantages
- over other and you must look at their cost to see if they are worth it.
-
- 9.) When attack a planet always try to send at less two to one in average
- (your attack average to his defense average). This will guaranetee
- success and keep loses down. Use the On-Line Combat chain to get an idea
- of what will be a success or not.
-
- This should give you a start in lasting out the game. I want to give you one
- more important advice. This rings true in most games where there is alot of
- Diplomacy.
-
- Expect anyone to do whatever he thinks he can get away with.
-
- If you leave yourself open for a back stab, expected it. Now get back to the
- game and Kick Butt.
