- SUPER TWO CARD POKER
-
- Super Two Card Poker is a live game used on BBS's that allow all your users
- to compete in a monthly competition to be the best! Super Two Card Poker
- is an easy game to learn and play. The game play is similar to 5 card poker
- except that flushes are worth nothing more than regular cards. Super Two
- Card Poker uses a real time deck to further extend the realism of playing
- a card game. Super Two Card Poker is very easy to set up on your BBS.
- Currently in this version, Wildcat!, QuickBBS, Remote Access, PCBoard 12,
- and PCBoard 14 are supported. If you run one of these boards, you will not
- need a converter, which is much easier, and faster! Super Two Card Poker
- also does not need any form of Brun (for programs written in Quick Basic).
- That's right folks! Let's give Borland a hand!!! Super Two Card Poker
- also has it's own Top Scores Bulletin Scoreboard Generator built in.
- Also, a super enchanced chat is built in where you can chat with the user.
- This chat is a split-screen chat where the SysOp and the user have their
- own window and personal colors and can BOTH type at the SAME TIME!
- This Door has it's own Carrier Check built in, so you will not have to load
- a TSR or other external program to check for the carrier. If the user
- drops carrier, their records WILL be saved and then Super Two Card Poker
- will return to the BBS. Then the BBS should take over the situation.
- If you decide to register, then your users will be able to use the most
- enhanced feature of all: Quick Term. This stand alone term program allows
- users to play live games in a whole new world, where screens, graphics,
- and cards pop up instantly! More on all of these individual features later..

-
- This program has been distributed as Shareware. You have been given the
- license to evaluate this program and decide for yourself if you like it.
- If you wish to continue using this program, and would like to be able to
- use the enhanced functions of this program, you must REGISTER!
-
- **** PLEASE NOTE: THIS GAME IN NOT CRIPPLEWARE ****
-
- This game is fully capable of running for as long as you wish, however,
- you must realize that this is a demo version only. You will be able to
- examine this game and try it out on your BBS as long as you wish.
- Please be aware though, that the Un-Registered version differs completely
- from the Registered version in the following ways:
-
- - You are limited to 15 players in the Un-Registered Version.
- * Up to 99 Players can be playing in one game in the Registered Version.
- - The Un-Registered version does not allow game play via Quick Term.
- * The Registered version opens up a whole new exiting world via an
- optional term program called Quick Term uses can use to play.
- - The Un-Registered version will not automatically reset the scores
- and start over at the beginning of each month.
- * The Registered version automatically resets the scores and keeps track
- of last month's winner at the beginning of each month.
- - The Un-Registered version limits game play by allowing only 4 options
- during the game.
- * 4 Additional options will be given to the users providing a total of
- 8 options within the game.
-
- As you might can see by now, Registration of Super Two Card Poker is
- a must if you want the total benefits for you and your users.
- I have tried to encourage you to register by giving you all these
- enhancements and providing 3 inexpensive registration plans. You
- can deside which one suits you best. (See Register.Doc or End of File)

- INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
-
- I have tried to give you an easy program to maintain, use, and especially
- Install. In order to aid you in installation, I provided you with a SetUp
- program that will do everything for you, and I will also describe the
- manual installation procedure here:
-
- Super Two Card Poker can be played via modem (BBS), or locally. In order
- to run STCP (Super Two Card Poker) local(from DOS), you do not need a config
- file. The syntax command line for Local Use Is:
-
- S2Poker Local [number of plays]
-
- The number of plays is optional. If you don't give it that parameter, you
- will be given the default of 20 plays. If you would like more or less than
- 20 plays, you must substitute a number from 10-40 there.
- Local play will create a score file, and will update the records, but will
- not create a top scores bulletin.
-
- Please be aware: This mode is local from DOS. On most BBS's, you should
- be able to play local from logging on locally to your BBS. If you play
- locally from a BBS, it will write a top scores output bulletin.
-
- In order to set the game up for a BBS, you must have a config file present.
- An easy setup program has been provided to create the config file.
- If you would like to manually create the config file, this is what the
- format of the config file should be like:
-
- Line 1: Path of BBS Data File
- Line 2: Maximum Time Limit Per Player Per Game (In Minutes)
- Line 3: Maximum Number of Hands (Plays) Allowed Per Day
- Line 4: Path of Color ANSI Bulletin
- Line 5: BBS Software Type
- Line 6: If You Wish to Lock the Baud Rate, put the Baud Rate here
-
- Example of How to Create the Config File from DOS prompt:
-
- Copy Con: S2Poker.Cfg
- C:\Wildcat\CallInfo.Bbs
- 15
- 20
- C:\Wildcat\Bulletin\Bull22.Scr
- Wildcat
- NO
- ^Z
-
-
- This short procedure will create the manditory config file needed by
- STCP. Here is a more in-depth description and syntax for each line:
-
- Line 1: This is where your BBS data file is. If you run Wildcat! 2.x
- or greater, then Callinfo.bbs will be the data file. If you
- run QuickBBS or RemoteAccess, then DorInfo1.Def is your data
- file. If you run PcBoard 12 or 14, then PcBoard.Sys is your
- data file. Please note you must also specify the path to your
- BBS data file.
-
- Line 2: This is the maximum time allowed to play the game. STCP will
- pick up the users time remaining from the BBS data file, but
- if it is more than this maximum time allocated per game, STCP
- will set the time remaining in the game to this number.
- This game will take only about 2-5 minutes to play for most
- users. I wouldn't recommend giving them over 15 minutes to play.
-
- Line 3: This is the maximum number of plays (hands) per day. This
- should be according to your own judgement. This game is very
- fast to play (esp with Quick Term). I have limited the
- maximum number of plays from 10 to 40 games per day. The
- default and recommended choice is 20 games per day.
-
- Line 4: This is where you want STCP to write the ANSI Color Output
- Scores Bulletin. You must include the name AND PATH of this
- file. STCP will create it if it isn't already there. Also,
- PLEASE NOTE: Currently, STCP does not write a B&W bulletin.
- In fact, STCP does not support B&W period. All users must
- have at least ANSI Capabilities. However, they can play in
- Color Mode !IF! they have an Ansi Driver installed. All
- graphics will just appear in shades of gray.
-
- Line 5: This is the BBS software you are running. The following BBS's
- are supported:
-
- BBS SOFTWARE: LINE OPTION:
- - Wildcat! 2.x+ Wildcat
- - Quick BBS QBBS
- - Remote Access QBBS
- - PcBoard 12 PCB-12
- - PcBoard 14 PCB-14
-
- Please Note: Live #5 is case sensitve! In order to avoid an
- error, use the SetUp program provided.
-
- Line 6: This line allows you to lock the baud rate. Generally, this
- option is rarely used except in high speed modems, such as
- 9600 and 19200 rates. If you wish to lock the baud rate,
- put the baud rate on this line. If you do not, leave this
- you MUST put the word NO on the line as in the example.
-
-
- Here is the command line syntax for running STCP from a BBS:
-
- S2Poker config filename
-
- The config filename parameter is mandatory. This is of course the
- configuration file used by STCP.
-
- In order to run STCP from a BBS, on most BBS's, you must create a
- batch file. This is a sample batch file for Wildcat! BBS's:
-
- Echo Off
- Cd C:\Gamdoors\S2Poker
- S2Poker S2Poker.Cfg
- Cd C:\Wildcat
- Cat
-
-
- Refer to your BBS documentation on the correct way to set up live games.
-
-
-
-
-
- THE GAME PLAY
-
- You may wish to skip this section and go onto the next section. This
- section gives a brief descriptipn of how to get around in STCP.
-
- When the user begins the game, if they are NOT in ANSI mode, STCP
- will prompt them to either continue using ANSI or abort and return to
- the BBS. If a user is in color mode, STCP will not display that prompt,
- and will instead proceded on normally. Currently, STCP does not display
- B&W graphics, and does not write a B&W output score bulletin. Of course,
- anyone can play the game even if they don't have a color monitor, as long
- as they have an ANSI Driver installed. Possibly in further versions, I
- will add B&W support, but the game can not be played without ANSI regardless.
- If you have registered your copy, STCP will auto-detect if Quick Term is
- present on the user's end, and if so, will go into enhanced mode for the user.
-
-
-
- AT THE MAIN MENU, THE USER HAS 4 CHOICES:
-
- [P]lay: Procedes into the main part of the game.
-
- [T]op Scores: Shows the complete list of users who are playing and when
- they played last, how many plays they have left, their score,
- how many days they have played, and their average score.
- Only 15 players can play in one game on the Un-Registered
- Version, and up to 99 can play in the Registered Version.
-
- [I]nstructions: Allows the user to view the instructions. The instructions
- are 9 pages long (165 lines), and contain information on
- how to play and about Super Two Card Poker and Quick Term.
-
- [Q]uit: Allows the user to Quit and return to the BBS before they play.
- If they haven't used all their turns, they will be able play again
- in the same day with their remaining turns.
-
-
- NOTE: If the user views the Top Scores, after the scores have been
- displayed, the title screen will start drawing again (if not
- using Quick Term). When the title screen draws the second time,
- they may press P and go ahead and go on to the game. You might
- want to let them know this.
-
-
-
- DURING GAME PLAY, THE USER HAS 8 OPTIONS:
-
- [P]lay: Allows the user to play their hand by making a wager on their
- cards. If they win, they win 3 times their bet, if they loose,
- they loose the amount they bet.
-
- [F]old: Simply allows the user to pass and go onto the next hand.
-
- [Q]uit: Allows the user to quit before they finish all of their plays.
- If they call back and play again within the same day, they will
- be allowed to continue with their remaining plays. Also, they
- can view the scores if they want to before returning to the BBS.
-
- [R]edraw: Redraws the screen and displays all information again (name, score,
- # players, etc...). If they are using Quick Term, the screen
- will pop up instantly. They can use this is they get inter-
- ference such as line noise or garbage.
-
- ***** REGISTERED VERSION ALLOWS THESE ADDITIONAL OPTIONS *****
-
- [I]nfo: Lets the user know exactly where they stand with the rest of the
- crowd. It displays their current place, what place they started
- in, how much money they need to move up to the next highest place,
- and how much they've won or lost so far.
-
- [H]elp: Allows the user to view the instructions from within the game.
-
- [T]erm: Toggles Quick Term On or Off. Say for instance, if they did not
- load Quick Term before STCP tried to initialize it, they could
- toggle it here. If STCP can't detect Quick Term, then the user
- can't toggle it on or off.
-
- [S]ounds: Toggles the Sound On or Off. Sound occurs only when they
- draw a joker or draw two aces.
-
-
-
-
-
- ABOUT QUICK TERM
-
- Quick Term is a program I wrote along with Super Two Card Poker to allow
- your users to experience a whole new inovated way and idea to play live
- games. It is almost like playing locally. Staying with the idea of ease
- with STCP, I have also provided easy instructions on how to set Quick Term
- up and run it. Once Quick Term is set up, it is a breeze to run and use.
- With Quick Term, all screens will pop up instantly! With Quick Term, the
- cards will also pop up fast! With Quick Term, all graphics used by
- STCP will increase from about 3% - 8% However, you must register your
- copy for the users to be able to use Quick Term and Super Two Card Poker
- to their FULL ADVANTAGE. Within this archive, you should receive an
- addtional archive called QuikTerm.Zip. In this included archive is the
- Quick Term package itself. Please Note: In order for the users to use
- Quick Term with STCP, you don't need to unzip the Quick Term package into
- your Super Two Card Poker directory. The registered version has it's own
- Quick Term interface built in. The SysOp doesn't have to do anything.
-
-
-
-
- SYSOP COMMANDS
-
- When the user is in the game, you have the following commands available.
- They are listed on the help bar at the bottom of the screen.
-
- You can increase their time by 1 minute by pressing your up arrow key.
- You can descrease their time by 1 minute by pressing your down arrow key.
-
- You can go into Chat by pressing F9. This is a split screen chat.
- The SysOp and the User have their own window and their own colors.
- You can change your foreground color by pressing Control F and then the
- number on the screen that stands for the color. You can do the same for
- the background by pressing Control D. You and the User can type at
- the same time also. To exit the chat, press Esc.
-
- If for any reason you wish to have the user immediately exit the game,
- you can press F10 to return to the BBS. Please Note: If you press F10
- to return them to the BBS, STCP will NOT update the records or bulletins.
- Use this method only in extreme measures.
-
-
-
- REGISTRATION
-
- As I have mentioned above in the beginning of this manual, this is mainly
- a Demo Version ONLY, to allow you to try STCP as long as you wish, and
- to let you freely evaluate it before deciding to register. However, the
- un-registered version restricts a lot of the game's great features.
- You will find there is a lot you can do with it, but also a lot you CAN'T
- without registering. I myself am a SysOp and realize what goes behind the
- scenes in creating and especially maintaining a good quality BBS. Most
- of all, I realize the Time and MONEY involved. Therefore, I have
- provided you with a program that is easy to install and easy to maintain
- (especially with registration). Furthermore, I have provided an
- inexpensive registration fee. I also provide 3 different registration
- plans; you can decide which one will suit you best. I will briefly
- describe what options you have to register.
-
-
- There are Three Different Registration Plans Available:
-
-
- Plan #1: Basic Registration Package: Cost: $10
- ------------------------------------
- This package is a one time only procedure. You will receive by mail,
- the latest Registered Version with your BBS name coded into the execution
- file. You will have all advantages and enhancements of the registered
- version, except for one thing- all additional updates must be purchased
- seperately. You will be notified free when updates have been made.
-
- Plan #2: Standard Registration Package: Cost: $15
- ---------------------------------------
- This is the standard package. You will receive by mail, the latest
- Registered Version with your BBS name coded into the execution file.
- You will have all advantages and enhancements of the registered version.
- You will also be notified free when updates have been made and there is
- a new version available. Then if you decide to get the latest version,
- you may download it from my BBS. Another option available with this
- package is the ability to request the latest version via mail. If you
- would like your latest registered version shipped via mail, you may send
- an addtional $5 each time you would like to receive the latest version.
- Please note that if you choose to always have the latest version shipped
- by mail, you must send me $5 each time you want the latest version by mail.
-
- Plan #3: Extended Registration Package: Cost $25
- ---------------------------------------
- This is very similar to the standard package. You will receive the latest
- version via mail. Also, each time there is an update available, you will
- receive ALL updates automatically via mail. There is no additional $5 charge
- for additional updates.
-
-
-
- Please Note: With Registration, You Will Receive the Best Support Available!
- By this I mean, if there is any problem you have, you may
- notify me and I will correct the problem. I will also notify
- you of all updates, enhancements, and news dealing with
- Super Two Card Poker and Quick Term. Also, all mail shipments
- will be made usually within the next day of me receiving
- your request of an upgrade. (With the Extended Registration
- Plan, there is no need to request additional upgrades, all
- updates will be automatically sent via mail immediatelly.)
- I also would be glad to hear any suggestions or opinions
- regarding to Super Two Card Poker and/or Quick Term, and if
- I like your idea, I will incorporate it into either/both
- programs, and release a new version.
