- THE PIT V2.0x HISTORY DOC
-
- 09/03/91 - Released V2.00
-
- 09/10/91 - Discovered Bugs in DESQVIEW routines. Keyboard lockups were the
- only clue to the error.
-
- 09/11/91 - Another bug was revealed to me. (Nothing like angry registered users
- to make your life pleasant <g>). The times on per day occasional
- fails to work on some users. I suspected DOS 5.0 as the culprit,
- because I cannot seem to duplicate the same error on any of my
- 3 computer systems. I will wait a few days and see what happens on
- my own systems.
-
- 09/13/91 - Made my first attempt at removing the DESQVIEW bugs. Went through
- the 5 recompilations with a BETA tester, and no good results to
- show for it.
-
- 09/15/91 - Discovered yet another error in THE PIT v2.0. If a user has the
- CRYSTAL LENS and fights a Rainbow Dragon, weird health results.
- o Fixed this error in 10 secs. It was a simple logic error on
- my part. (And you people think we programmers are perfect?)
-
- 09/16/91 - Finally discovered the error in the DESQVIEW routines to be in
- a library set I D/Led from GENIE. I discovered the author did
- not understand how to switch stacks in ASM. Oh well at least
- I do and was able to fix this little stinker. Good thing I own
- CODE VIEW or I never would have. The game should run on DESQVIEW
- as it was intended to. (I really need to buy a 386 and test this
- - hear that SANTA, I need a 386!)
-
- 09/17/91 - As it stands I still have one bug in the game that I know of.
- Occasionally a user will logon and not be able to gain access to
- the game because the date is not registering correctly. Really
- strange bug, I only call BIOS DATE functions. THIS ERROR HAS
- NEVER HAPPENED TO ME! errrr. And I even got data files from a
- user that had trouble and it ran perfectly. (Corrupt EXE's?)
-
- 09/17/91 - RELEASED V2.00b.
-
- 10/01/91 - Discovered a bug in the DATE functions in THE PIT. It resulted in
- players occasionally getting locked out of the game. Finally got
- this nasty bug fixed! (FIX FOR BUG LISTED ABOVE - 09/17/91)
-
- 10/01/91 - RELEASED V2.01.
-
- 10/28/91 - Discovered a bug in the GT POWER com port function. Seems that it
- would allow editing to any com port, but would always default to
- COM 1. This error resulted due to my failure to verify its accuracy
- with a GT POWER sysop that it actually worked.
-
- I would like to thanks to Caroline Faulkner for helping me resolve
- this problem.
- The Gathering Place BBS
- HST 14.4K (1200-19.2K)
- 24 hours/day
- (513)874-1847
-
- 10/28/91 - Released V2.02 to fix the GT POWER bug.
-
- 11/04/91 - Discovered that the PCBOARD.SYS file was being opened as a TEXT file
- instead of a BINARY file. Never noticed this bug until some PCB users
- started complaining about random players not being allowed in the
- game. A simple one line code change and recompilation fixed this one.
-
- 11/04/91 - Released V2.03 to fix PCBOARD.SYS bug.
