- LADDERS is a highly challenging, fast paced, dice game that requires
- some luck and good strategy. The object of the game is to "capture"
- three ladders. Even though there are eleven ladders on the board, you
- will only be able to "climb" five of the eleven. The five ladders are
- determined by the first five ladders you start to climb.
-
- After the computer rolls the four dice, you must group the dice into two
- pairs, the sum of each pair denoting a particular ladder on the board.
- The computer places a marker on the lowest rung of the ladders pointed
- to by the dice. The player may then roll again, pairing the dice as
- before, either to advance an existing marker one more rung up a ladder
- or to place a new marker on a different ladder (up to a maximum of 5)
- or you "capture" three ladders. To "capture" a ladder, you must reach
- the top of the ladder.
-
- To adjust for the fact that some numbers come up more often than others,
- each ladder is a different height, corresponding to the chance of that
- number being rolled. This means that ladder seven is the longest, and
- ladders two and twelve are the shortest.

-
- Choosing "Q" in place of a die number, will save the game in progress
- and allow you to pick up the game the next time you call. Pressing "0"
- in place of a die number will allow you to re-enter the die number(s).
-
- Careful planning of which ladders to climb, as well as good old LUCK,
- will decide the outcome of LADDERS. GOOD LUCK!
