-
- Earth's resources are becoming scarce, due to the
- increased depletion of the ozone layer and excessive toxic
- concentration in Earth's water supply. Tension between
- world nations is at an all-time high and squabbles between
- countries over a few acres of land is becoming more and
- more common.

-
- The Arab nations have formed an alliance (U.A.N. - United
- Arab Nations). With their example, the rest of the world
- follows suit. Four other unions are formed. The A.A.N.
- (American Alliance of Nations), A.T.U. (Asian Treaty of
- Unification), E.C.P. (European Consolidation Pack), and
- the C.R.R. (Commonwealth of Russian Republics). These Five
- new world powers soon become adversaries. Earth's resources

- The United States of America invents the fusion reactor.
- With this new power source, all other fossil fuels become
- obsolete. Countries that depended on the sales of oil, coal,
- or petroleum for survival quickly become poor third-world
- countries. Without the demand for fossil fuels, these
- countries loose their paramount source of economic stability
- and world prestige. The damage to their political influence
- is irreparable. The once wealthy United Arab Nations become
- virtually bankrupt overnight.
-
- ░░▒▒▓▓██ November 18th, 2004 ██▓▓▒▒░░
-
- In a desperate attempt to reverse their plummeting economies,
- the U.A.N. threatens full-scale nuclear deployment unless the
- other countries of world provide them with financial aid.
- When the aid does not come, the U.A.N. launches a massive
- nuclear attack at the A.A.N. The American Alliance retaliates
- with a major offensive of their own. Soon after, all the other
- alliances of the world join in the war.

- GAME BACKGROUND ░░▒▒▓▓██ July 27th, 2009 ██▓▓▒▒░░
-
- After five years the war finally ceases. 60% of the world's
- surface has been destroyed. The governmental bodies that
- instigated the war are all but gone. In the aftermath of the
- most devastating war in history, the populations of the world
- suffer gravely from food shortages and unrelenting diseases.
- The future of mankind remains in doubt.
-

-
- The world has been under totalitarian rule, while the
- countries of the earth slowly repair the damages caused by
- the war. All war has been outlawed. A group of scientists
- are commissioned to prepare a solution to the problem of
- dealing with the disputes that arise between Alliances.
- Their solution is an artificial environment to which
- Alliances send their great machines to do battle in a way
- to spare the crippled earth. The battles that the grid will
- host will determine the future of mankind. The arena is
- the Battle Grid. The winner will be the ruler of the earth.

- Revenue: Credits are generated from captured land, based
- on terrain value and are collected every game day.
- Movement: A mech receives allotted movement points each game
- turn. Movement points are expended based on
- terrain type.
- Attacks: A mech receives allotted attack points each game
- turn. Each attack costs an attack point.

- ╙──╜ ╙──╜ Battle Grid Overview
- ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- GAME SYNOPSIS You and your opponents represent opposing Alliances fighting
- for control of the earth in the Battle Grid. The battle will
- be fought between huge machines called Mechs. You have been
- specially trained as a mech pilot, responsible for purchasing
- an effective mech, devastating mines, and terrifying weapons.
-
- Every game has its own unique terrain map. The terrain
- consists of rivers, lakes, grasslands, swamps, hills,
- mountains, and more.
-
- Initially, your mech is randomly placed on the terrain map.
- The terrain is vast and its many variations can be used to
- your advantage. Hide behind mountains, then maneuver around
- rivers to capture your opponent's land. But stay alert and
- keep a vigilant eye open for the enemy. He may be trying to
- take your land out from under you. Or he may be lying in
- wait; looking for an opportunity to launch a staggering array
- of missiles and guns at you.

- GAME SYNOPSIS You advance, a shrapnel 2000 mine explodes, your mech takes
- minimal damage, but you have a clear shot at your adversary
- ... Now its your turn. You fire a few rounds from your
- volcanic repeater ... they hit, ripping off armor from the
- enemy mech, seconds later it bursts into flames. All his
- lands become yours. Victory is sweet, but there is no time
- for celebration. A quick review of your strategic map reveals
- another enemy mech encroaching on your territory. Reload
- your weapons, the battle continues.
-
- DOOR STRUCTURE Up to 30 games can be played simultaneously (registered

- ╙──╜ ╙──╜ GMENU Installation/Operation
- ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- INSTALLATION To install gmenu copy GMENU.EXE to your term program
- directory.
-
- OPERATION Gmenu executes external programs from within a menu
- environment. It can be used as a front-end program from
- which you will load your term package (Telix, Qmodem, Etc..)
- to perform standard telecommunications. To run a graphic or
- other online program, simply load gmenu and setup the
- term package and online program.
-
- Run your term program from gmenu and when you need to run
- an online program just exit your term program and gmenu
- will reload. Then simply select the online program you wish
- to run from gmenu.
-
- There are 3 main sections to gmenu which are edit, run, and
- quit.

- ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- EDIT There are 15 total entry lines available in gmenu. To run
- external online programs such as Battle Grid, you must
- enter your term program in entry line #1, because gmenu
- automatically loads the first entry after each program is
- executed.
-
- Each entry line requires 4 pieces of information about the
- program to be executed. They are as follows:
-
- 1. Menu Name - Name displayed in menu.
- 2. File Name - File name to be executed (e.g. BGRID2.EXE)
- 3. Parameters - Parameters being passed to the file
- e.g. 2400 COM2 ON -0 UNLOCKED
- 4. Path - The full path to where the program is
- located.
-
- RUN To run an application simply highlight the menu name and
- press <ENTER>.
-
- QUIT Quit out of gmenu.

- ╙──╜ ╙──╜ B'grid Tips/Strategies
- ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- GAME TIPS/STRATEGIES * Your first concern will be to attain as much land
- as possible and establishing a stronghold on the
- map.
-
- * Generating revenue is a very important part of the
- game. It is necessary for the purchase of additional
- weapons, ammo, armor, stronger mechs in time of
- need and increasing your statistics.
-
- * Since rivers and lakes are impassable, attempt
- to restrict access to or block others by building
- superstructures in narrow areas created by water.
-
- * Armor and weapons are fashioned to be mech specific,
- therefore if you purchase another mech ... all the
- weapons and armor of your previous mech will be
- lost. However, mines and traps are not mech specific
- so they remain.
