- MAIN MENU OPTIONS
-
-
- <A> Aliens Editor. Allows you to change the information
- about each alien. Enter the alien's number and you will
- be allowed to change the name, ship name, ship make and
- class, current location, fighters, shields, corbomite
- level, holds, credits, alignment points and experience
- points. Setting the location of the Alien to 0 (zero)
- will de-activate the ship.

- <B> List Outstanding Federal Bounties. List all the
- bounties, on whom they are posted and who posted them.
- You can also see the amount of the bounty and who has
- claimed it. You cannot change any of these values. If
- you have a problem with this file, you will have to
- delete the entire file. The game will re-create the
- file, but none of the previous bounties will be there.

- <F> Ferrengi Editor. This option allows you to change the
- names or power of the Ferrengi in the game. Enter the
- Ferrengi ship number and you can change the name, ship
- name, location and other information as well. Detailed
- instructions on this portion of the editor can be found
- later in this document.

- <G> General Information and Setup, Screen One. This allows
- you to change the game set up. This is the screen where
- you enter your Registration Code. The options on this
- screen are detailed later in this document.

- <H> General Information and Setup, Screen Two. This screen
- allows you to change additional setup information. This
- is the screen that contains the location of the Class 0
- ports and the Ferrengi Homeworld. If you are playing the
- game and you do not wish to have this information, don't
- use this screen. All the options on this screen are
- detailed later in this document.

- <L> List Current Users. This is a listing only. None of the
- values here can be changed. You can use this listing to
- see the player number, name, current sector location,
- fighters, shields, ship type, turns remaining and
- corporation number of every player in the game. This can
- be very useful information. The listing may contain
- unused player records but you can abort the display by
- pressing the space bar.

- <N> Planet Editor. This enables you to edit all the
- information of any planet in the game. You must know the
- planet number to use this option. The fields of this
- screen are detailed later in this document.
-
- <P> Port Editor. This enables you to alter the information
- about any port in the game. You enter the sector number
- where the port is located to access the port record.
- This portion of the editor is explained in greater detail
- later in this document.
-
- <S> Sector Editor. This allows you to change the nebulae
- name, add or modify the marker beacon and change
- information about everything contained in the sector.
- Additional information about this screen can be found
- later in this document.
-
- <T> Corporation Editor. This allows you to view and edit the
- information for each corporation. Enter the corporation
- number and you can change the name, captain, date of
- creation and password. Options <E> Rank and <F> Kills
- are reserved for future versions.

- <U> User Editor. This enables you to change all the
- information about a specific user. You can enter all or
- part of the user's name and the user list will be
- searched to find a match. Additional information about
- the fields in this portion of the editor is detailed
- later in this document.

- <Q> Quit Editor and Exit to the BBS.

- FERRENGI EDITOR
-
- <A> Ferrengi Name. You can choose to use a new system
- generated name or enter one of your own creations. The
- length of this field is 25 characters.
-
- <B> Ship Name. You can choose to use a system generated name
- or enter one of your own creations. The length of this
- field is 25 characters.
-
- <C> Location. Enter the sector number where you want to
- locate this Ferrengi ship. Entering a 0 (zero) in this
- field will de-activate this ship.
-
- <D> Fighters OH. Enter the number of fighters you want this
- ship to have on hand.
-
- <E> Shields OH. Enter the number of shields you want this
- ship to have on hand.
-
- <F> Corbomite Lvl. Enter the Corbomite level (number of
- corbomite devices) you want to have on this ship.
-
- <G> Destination. Reserved for use in a future version of the
- game.
-
- <H> -<J> Grudges #1, #2 and #3. These fields contain the
- names of users or corporations who have encountered the
- Ferrengi. If the Ferrengi cross the user's path again,
- they will attack. These options will be used more
- extensively in future versions of the game.

- <K> Operating Mode.
- <0> Scouting. This is the default mode. The ship just
- wanders around the universe.
- <1> Attacking. This ship has been attacked and it will
- act aggressively against any trader it meets.
- <2> Blood Hunt. This ship will be going after one of the
- Traders marked in the Grudge fields.
- <3> Invading. Reserved for future use.
- <4> Raiding. Reserved for future use.
- <5> Retreating. Reserved for future use.
- <6> Trapped. Reserved for future use.
- <7> Defending. Reserved for future use.

- GENERAL INFORMATION AND SETUP, SCREEN ONE
-
- <Z> Registration Code. Enter your registration code exactly
- as shown in your registration letter. This will enable
- all the features of the game.
-
- <A> Turns per Day. This is the base number of turns per day
- for a Merchant Cruiser. The number of turns for all
- other ships are based on this number.
-
- <B> Initial Fighters. This is the number of fighters given
- to new players entering the game.
-
- <C> Initial Credits. This is the number of credits given to
- new players entering the game.
-
- <D> Initial Holds. This is the number of holds on the
- Merchant Cruiser given to new players entering the game.
-
- <E> Days until an inactive user is deleted. This option lets
- you keep only the active players in your user file.
-
- External Maintenance Last Ran: This option is
- informational only. If maintenance does not run, several
- components of the game (such as Port Construction) will
- not take place.
-
- Max # of Players, sectors, ports and planets: This is
- informational only.
-
- <G> Ferrengi regeneration percentage. The entry here will be
- a percentage (from 1 to 100) of the maximum number of
- Ferrengi that can be regenerated each night. The maximum
- (100%) will cause 10% of the total possible number of
- Ferrengi to be added to the game every night when
- maintenance is run.

- <H> Terran Colonist Reproduction Rate. This is the number of
- colonists that will reproduce every day. The number of
- colonists is updated constantly - not during maintenance.
-
- <I> Daily log Limit in lines. Enter the number of lines you
- want to maintain in your daily log. The bigger the file,
- the more the users can review the history of the game by
- using option <D> from the Computer Menu. Be aware that
- larger the file, the more hard disc space you will be
- using.

- <J> - <L> StarShip Locations. These are the sectors where
- the three Federation StarShips are located.
-
- <M> Maximum num of planets in a sector. If there are more
- than this number of planets in a sector when maintenance
- is run, there is a possibility that one or more of the
- planets will be destroyed due to planetary gravitational
- conflict.
-
- <N> Maximum num of Traders on a Corp. Use of this option can
- change the amount of interaction between the players.
-
- <O> Underground Password Phrase. Enter the phrase you want
- as the password to the Underground. The phrase can be up
- to 41 characters long.
-
- <P> Age of Game in days. The number of days since the game
- began. The number of Ferrengi and Aliens in the game is
- calculated using this number.
-
- <R> Locked Modem rate. Locked DTE (serial connection between
- the computer and the modem) This option is normally only
- used with modems that have data compression (v.42, MNP-
- 5). If you are unsure if you need to use this setting or
- not, leave it OFF.
-
- <S> The Local Display is (on/off) while remote users play.
- Some SysOps that play the game prefer to have the console
- off while remote users are playing the game so they do
- not have an unfair advantage.
-
- <T> Use CTS/RTS Hardware Flow Control. Used only when
- running higher-speed modems. If you are unsure whether
- or not to use this setting, leave it OFF.

- GENERAL INFORMATION AND SETUP, SCREEN TWO
-
- <A> TriCron Champion. Enter the user who is the current
- TriCron Champion.
-
- <B> TriCron Jackpot. Enter the current number of credits in
- the TriCron Jackpot.
-
- <C> TriCron HiScore. Enter the current high score in
- TriCron.
-
- <D> Ferrengi Homebase. The option for the Ferrengi Homeworld
- is informational only. It is reserved for use in future
- versions of the game.
-
- <E> StarDock Sector. Current location of the StarDock.
-
- <F> 2nd Port0 Sector. Current location of the second Class
- 0 Port. (The first Class 0 Port is always in sector 1.)
-
- <G> 3rd Port0 Sector. Current location of the third Class 0
- Port.
-
- <H> Ferrengi %moveCh. You can set the chance for the
- Ferrengi to move around while a user is in the game.
- More information about how to set this for your
- particular configuration will be displayed when you
- choose option <H>.

- <I> Aliens %moveCh. You can set the chance for the Aliens to
- move around while a suer is in the game. More
- information about how to set this for your particular
- configuration will be displayed when you choose option
- <I>.

- <J> Gfiles ScoresDir. Gfiles ScoresDir allows you to specify
- the subdirectory for the player rankings. This allows
- users to display the scoreboard without entering the
- game. This file will be updated each time a user chooses
- the <L> List Players option from the Computer Menu.

- <K> Sysop Sec Level. SysOps have the ability to send
- messages from the Federation or Ferrengi, erase the
- writing on the bathroom wall, clear the conversations in
- the Tavern, etc. Set this to the security level of the
- users you wish to have these options.
-
- <L> Lock our Aliases? You can decide whether or not to allow
- your users the option of using an alias in the game.
-
- <M> Display StarDock. This option will determine whether the
- location of the StarDock will be displayed on the Game
- Configuration Screen (option <V> from the Main Menu).
- <O> FedSpaceShipLimit. This sets the number of ships that
- are allowed to remain in any FedSpace sector. If there
- are more than this number of ships in a sector when
- maintenance runs, then ships will be towed out (randomly)
- until there are only this many left.

- <P> Photon Wave Dur. This is the number of seconds that a
- Photon Missile will neutralize defenses in a sector.
- Please use discretion when setting this component. A lot
- of damage can be done in just a few seconds. We
- recommend you set this at no more than 30 seconds.

- PLANET EDITOR
-
-
- <A> Planet Name. The name of this planet. This field is 41
- characters long.
-
- <H> Class. This field is reserved for use in future versions
- of the game.
-
- <O> Location. The sector where this planet is located.
-
- <M> Made By. This is the person who launched the Genesis
- Torpedo to create this planet. This information is only
- used in the Planet Display. You can enter up to 41
- characters here.
-
- <L> Owned by. This is the current owner of the planet. A
- positive number indicates the planet is a personal one
- owned by that user number. A negative one (-1)
- designates the Ferrengi as the owners. Negative eleven
- through negative sixty (-11 through -60) indicates that
- the planet is owned by a corporation (-11 = Corp #1, -60
- = Corp #50).

- <B> Ore OnHand. The number of units of Fuel Ore available on
- the planet.
-
- <C> Organics OH. The number of units of Organics available
- on the planet.
-
- <D> Equipment OH. The number of units of Equipment available
- on the planet.
-
- <I> Fighters OH. The number of fighters stationed on the
- planet.
-
- <E> Fuel Ore (Colonists/Productivity). This will allow you
- to enter the number of colonists groups (1000 per group)
- assigned to the production of Fuel Ore. The Productivity
- (or units per day) will be calculated using the number of
- colonists.
-
- <F> Organics (Colonists/Productivity). This will allow you
- to enter the number of colonists groups (1000 per group)
- assigned to the production of Organics. The Productivity
- (or units per day) will be calculated using the number of
- colonists.
-
- <G> Equipment (Colonists/Productivity). This will allow you
- to enter the number of colonists groups (1000 per group)
- assigned to the production of Equipment. The
- Productivity (or units per day) will be calculated using
- the number of colonists.
-
- Fighters (Production). This fields is informational
- only. The number of fighters produced per day is
- calculated using the units per day fields from the other
- commodities produced on the planet.

- <J> Defenses. This option will let you set which defenses
- are available on the planet (Level 1 through 5 Citadel).
-
- <T> Military Control. This enables you to change the
- Military Reaction Level (the same as option <M> on the
- Planet Menu).
-
- <U> Quasar Atmos. This enables you to change the Quasar
- Cannon Reaction Level - Atmospheric setting. This is the
- same as option <Q> from the Citadel Menu.
-
- <V> Quasar Sector. This enables you to change the Quasar
- Cannon Reaction Level - Sector setting. This is the same
- as option <Q> from the Citadel Menu.
-
- <K> Treasury Credits. This allows you to change the number
- of credits stored in the citadel on this planet.
-

- PORT EDITOR
-
- <A> Name. The name of this port. This fields is 41
- characters long.
-
- <W> Last ship to port. This is the name of the last ship to
- port here. The Merchant Marines is the value in this
- field if no user has yet ported here. This field is 41
- characters long.
-
- <T> Last robbed by. This is the name of the last user to rob
- this port. This information is used when a player
- attempts to rob the same port more than once. You can
- enter all or part of a user's name and it will check the
- user file to find a match.
-
- <B> Class. This is normally determined by the buy/sell setup
- that occurred in INITPORT. We strongly recommend that
- you do not change this field.
-
- <C> - <E> Ore, Org. and Equ. This is the amount of each of
- these commodities currently available for trade at the
- port. The amount cannot exceed 20 times the production
- rate (see below). If it does exceed this amount, the
- game will return the value to what it should be.
-
- <F> - <H> Productivity. This is the production rate the port
- will produce in one day. The maximum allowed at the port
- is 20 times this rate. We strongly recommend that you do
- not change these fields.
-
- <I> - <K> Maximum change in cost (percent). This is the
- variance percentage (from the list price) that the port
- will charge/pay for goods. If the number is negative,
- the port is buying that commodity. If the number is
- positive, the port is selling that commodity. We
- strongly recommend that you do not change these fields.
-
- Accumulated Trading Credits. This field is informational
- only and the value cannot be changed. This is the number
- of credits that have been accumulated as a result of
- trading at this port. This is the maximum amount of
- credits available for evil players to rob from the port.

- SECTOR EDITOR
-
- <Z> Nebulae. This is the name of the nebulae in which this
- sector is located. This name can be up to 41 characters
- long.
-
- <N> Beacon. This is what is on the marker beacon in this
- sector. You may enter up to 41 characters in this field.
-
- <G> Port. This is the name of the port in this sector. If
- you choose this option, you will be taken to the Port
- Editor.
-
- <H> Fighters. This is the number of fighters in the sector
- and the name of their owner. If you select this option,
- you will be asked how many fighters to put in the sector
- and to whom they should belong. If you enter a positive
- number, they will be personal fighters belonging to the
- user with that user number. A negative one (-1) means
- they belong to the Ferrengi. A negative eleven through
- negative sixty (-11 through -60) means they are Corporate
- fighters belonging to Corp. #1 through Corp #50.
- (Example: If you enter a -15 as the owner, the fighters
- will belong to Corporation #4).

- <V> Mode. This is the mode the fighters are in -
- 0=Defensive, 1=Toll and 2=Offensive.
-
- <T> Toll Collected. If the fighters are set to Toll mode,
- this option will appear. This is the number of credits
- that the fighters have collected.

- <I> Planets. This is the name and number of the planet(s)
- located in this sector. If you choose this option, you
- will be taken to the Planet Editor.
-
- <J> Mines. This is the number of mines in the sector and the
- name of the owner. If you select this option, you will
- be asked how many mines to put in the sector and to whom
- they should belong. See <H> Fighters to see how to
- designate the owner.
-
- <K> Traders. This is a list of the traders located in this
- sector. If you choose this option, you will be taken to
- the User Editor.
-
- <L> Ferrengi. This is a list of the Ferrengi located in this
- sector. If you choose this option, you will be taken to
- the Ferrengi Editor.
-
- <M> Aliens. This is a list of the Aliens located in this
- sector. If you choose this option you will be taken to
- the Aliens Editor.
-
- USER EDITOR
-
- <A> Name. This is the name the user has chosen for his/her
- character in the game. The name entered here can be up
- to 41 characters long.
-
- <B> BBS Name. This is the BBS name of this player. Be very
- careful about changing this. You could have a user that
- can no longer play the game. This name can be up to 41
- characters long.
-
- <C> Ship Name. This is the name the user has chosen for
- his/her ship. This can be up to 45 characters long.
- Ports is the number of times this ship has docked at a
- port in the game. Kills is the number of other ships the
- player has destroyed while using this ship. Ports and
- Kills are informational only and cannot be changed.
- These two fields are used to determine the trade-in value
- for this ship.

- <D> Ship Make and Class. This is the make and model of this
- user's ship. If you want to change this, you will be
- given a list of ships from which to choose. After you
- have selected the ship, you will be given a list of
- Manufacturers.

- <E> Last Day On. This is the last day this user was in the
- game. If you choose this option, entering a positive
- number indicates the number of days since the player last
- played, 0 (zero) indicates the user was in the game
- today, and a negative number will prevent the user from
- entering the game for that number of days.

- <F> Killed by. This is the name of the user who last
- destroyed this player's ship. A positive number
- indicates an active user. Negative 99 (-99) means the
- record will be initialized. Negative 98 (-98) means the
- player was destroyed by a user who has been deleted from
- the game. Negative 1 (-1) means the user was destroyed
- by the Ferrengi.

- <G> Turns Left. This is the number of turns available for
- this user today.
-
- <H> Location. This is the current location of this user.
- Numbers 1 through 1000 mean the user is in that sector.
- Numbers 1001 through 2000 mean the user is on a planet in
- the sector (number-1000). For example - the location of
- a user is 1599; this means the user is on a planet in
- sector 599. Numbers 2001 through 3000 mean that the user
- is cloaked in sector (number - 2000). For example - the
- location of a user is 2444; this means the user is
- cloaked in sector 444.
- <I> - <M> Fighters, Shields, Genesis Torps, Mines, and Marker
- Beacons. This is the amount of each of these items the
- player has on the ship.

- <N> Long Range Scan. This shows whether or not the user has
- a long range scanner. If you wish to change this, you
- can specify 0 for no scanner, 1 for Density Scanner or 2
- for Holographic Scanner.

- <O> Cargo Holds. This is the number of holds available on
- this ship. If you change this number or change the
- numbers for <P> Ore, <Q> Org, <R> Equ or <S> Colonists,
- be sure the total of P+Q+R+S is less than or equal to the
- number in O. If you have more commodities than holds,
- when the player enters the game, the commodities will be
- deleted beginning with Equipment and ending with
- Colonists.

- <T> Credits. This is the number of credits on this player's
- ship.
-
- <U> Last Sector in. This is the last sector the user was in
- before his/her current location. This is used when
- calculating escape routes.
-
- <V> Member of Corp. This is the number of the corporation to
- which this player belongs.
-
- <W> Experience Pts. This is the number of experience points
- this user has accumulated. The title associated with the
- experience is also displayed.
-
- <Y> Morals Ranking. This is the number of alignment points
- this user has accumulated. The name associated with this
- level of morals is also displayed.
-
- <1> - <5> Atomic Detonators, Corbomite Device, Ether Probes,
- Mine Disrupters, Photon Missiles. This is the quantity
- of each of these hardware items found on this ship.

- <6> - <9> Psychic Probe, Planet Scanner, Ship Transfer Lock,
- Transwarp Drive. These selections can toggle whether or
- not this ship has each of these devices.

- <Z> Cloaking Devices. This is the number of cloaking devices
- contained on this ship.
-
- <@> Times Blown Up. This is how many times this player has
- had his/her ship destroyed.
-
- <!> Delete this user. Deletes this user from the player
- file.
