  3.                INSTALLING EPI INFO, VERSION 5.01b
  4.  
  5. (This material also appears in the primary README file. It is duplicated 
  6. here for the use of those receiving a partial disk set in upgrade from 
  7. 5.01a to 5.01b.)

  9. If you are upgrading Version 5.01a to Version 5.01b, only the
  10. ENTER and ANALYSIS programs need to be installed.  In the standard,
  11. four-disk distribution system, they are on the second disk.  Install
  12. these programs as usual and allow them to overwrite those for Version
  13. 5.01b.  Note that ENTER is located on the second disk in Version 5.01b
  14. but on the first disk in Version 5.01a.

  16.         WHAT'S NEW IN EPI INFO, VERSION 5.01b?
  17.  
  18. Version 5.01b incorporates the following changes, in addition to the
  19. features of Version 5.01a:
  20.  
  21. *ANALYSIS (dated 7-15-91) has 3 new operators:
  22.  
  23.         TRUNC(x) produces the value of x with any fractional portion
  24.         truncated.
  25.  
  26.         FRAC(x) produces the fractional portion of x.
  27.  
  28.         ROUND(x) produces the value of x rounded to the nearest whole
  29.         number. (Rounding is away from 0 in case of ties: 1.5 is rounded
  30.         to 2.0, but -1.5 is rounded to -2.0.) Legal values for rounded x
  31.         are in the range -2,147,483,648 to +2,147,483,647. For x outside
  32.         that range, ROUND(x) produces the unrounded value of x.
  33.  
  34. *ANALYSIS' DIV operator has been limited to numbers in the range of
  35. approximately -214,748 to +214,748. Attempts to use larger numbers, and
  36. DIV operations which result in errors, are signaled as errors. In case
  37. of error, the value produced is -10E6. (X DIV Y is considered to result
  38. in an error if ((X / Y) - (X DIV Y) - FRAC(X / Y) > 10E-300).)

  40. *A problem with display of deleted records in ENTER has been corrected.
  41. This problem occurred only with records with length of exact multiples
  42. of 78 bytes.
  43.  
  44. We are happy to note that most of the "bugs" reported by helpful users
  45. were of the type only noticed in specialized applications by a few
  46. users, and some only became evident on particular types of computers.
