  6.           Thank you for your interest in PRO-dVelBase Lite.  PRO-dVelBase
  7.           Lite is the "shareware" edition of Accelerated Software's
  8.           PRO-dVelBase (TM) vs 2.0 and is targeted for home users and small
  9.           businesses.  This will allow you to "try before you buy".  The
  10.           entire program along with documentation is distributed on disk in
  11.           .ZIP format and you may freely copy and distribute it in its
  12.           entirety, without cost except for a nominal disk handling fee. 
  13.           It may also be distributed via electronic bulletin boards or CD
  14.           ROM.  The documentation included in the file is only a synopsis
  15.           of the reference manual.  The complete documentation will be sent
  16.           upon registration of the software.

  18.           If you are using the program regularly, we ask that you send in a
  19.           registration fee.  Only as users register the software, will
  20.           Accelerated Software be able to continue to develop and market
  21.           PRO-dVelBase Lite as shareware.  Please help support us!  With
  22.           the registration fee, you will obtain a 200 page, indexed
  23.           reference manual and a 100 page tutorial along with a registered
  24.           copy of the software.  A coupon worth $40.00 U.S. ($50.00
  25.           Canadian) towards the purchase of PRO-dVelBase version 2.0 will
  26.           also be sent.  Ninety day telephone support is only available to
  27.           registered users.  The registration fee is $79.95 U.S. ($89.95
  28.           Canadian + G.S.T.) plus shipping charges.

  30.           PRO-dVelBase is a non-programmable, dBASE compatible, relational,
  31.           multi-file database management system.  It allows end users to
  32.           design sophisticated database systems without programming. 
  33.           Inventory, invoicing, point-of-sales and customer tracking
  34.           systems can be easily designed.
  35.  
  36.           PRO-dVelBase uses dBASE compatible files (both data and index). 
  37.           This allows other database programs such as dBASE, Clipper,
  38.           FoxBase, dBXL, etc. to use the data from PRO-dVelBase directly
  39.           and vice versa.

  41.           Forms (data entry screens) are designed by "painting" the fields
  42.           on the screen and answering a series of questions about them. 
  43.           Relationships between various database files are also established
  44.           by answering a series of questions.  One-to-one, one-to-many and
  45.           many-to-one relationships can be defined.

  47.           Queries are performed by a query-by-example method and the report
  48.           generator is band orientated.

  50.           A label designer and mail merge feature is also available. 
  51.           Letters can be done with the built in word processor or imported
  52.           from text files created by other word processors.

  54.           PRO-dVelBase version 2.0 is NOT marketed as shareware but through
  55.           regular commercial distribution channels.  PRO-dVelBase Lite is
  56.           targeted for home users and small businesses while PRO-dVelBase

  62.           database developers.  The price of PRO-dVelBase 2.0 is $250.00

  85.           7.   Batch commands that automate various database operations.
  86.           8.   Ability to change cursor size.

  88.                any database object.

  91.           software.  This sample includes a customer database, personalized
  92.           mailing, inventory tracking and a multi-file invoicing system. 
  93.           It can act as a skeleton for your own applications.

  95.           Installing and Running PRO-dVelBase
  96.           ===================================

  98.           PRO-dVelBase Lite is distributed in .ZIP file format and requires
  99.           a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE to uncompress it.  A program directory
  100.           should be created first.  This may be done with the command,
  101.           "MD C:\PRO" (without the quotes), from the DOS prompt.  The
  102.           program can then be uncompressed using the command,
  103.           "PKUNZIP C:\PRO\PROLIT10.ZIP C:\PRO" (if PROLIT10.ZIP is on
  104.           C:\PRO directory).  The sample application is entitled,
  105.           "WIDGETS.ZIP".  Another subdirectory should be created to store
  106.           the sample widgets application.  This is created with the
  107.           command, "MD C:\PRO\WIDGETS", from the DOS prompt.  The widgets
  108.           application can then be uncompressed with the command,
  109.           "PKUNZIP C:\PRO\WIDGETS.ZIP C:\PRO\WIDGETS".

  111.           The CONFIG.SYS file should be changed to include the following:

  119.           Be sure you are on the subdirectory in which PRO-dVelBase resides
  120.           by typing CD\PRO followed by ENTER.

  122.           It is recommended that different applications be stored in
  123.           separate subdirectories beneath the one in which PRO-dVelBase
  124.           resides.  A subdirectory may be created with the command:
  125.           MD <DIRECTORY NAME>
  126.  
  127.           The program may now be run directly by just typing PRO followed
  128.           by ENTER from the DOS prompt.  At the main menu, the sample
  129.           application can be viewed by using the "Options/Change Dir"
  130.           command to change the data directory to "WIDGETS".  A form can
  131.           then be selected and executed.

  133.           The documentation is contained in "README.TXT" (this file) and
  134.           "MANUAL.TXT".  These may be printed out using the command,
  135.           "COPY *.TXT PRN", if you have a printer.  Make sure you have
  136.           enough paper in the printer as "MANUAL.TXT" has over 100 pages.
