  1. * HOTNET - a LAN-Based Multi-User Caller Support System*

  3.      Do you provide some type of "hotline" phone support -- perhaps
  4. from users of a software package, or maybe from business owners
  5. needing tax advice.  You may be trying to trouble-shoot mechanical
  6. problems from lawn-mower dealers; perhaps you're part of a legislative
  7. committee that's explaining new laws introduced in the current
  8. session.  Maybe you're just trying to collect feedback from people on
  9. a new product you've introduced.
  10.  
  11.      All of these scenarios share common business problems:
  12.  
  13.           1)   They're fielding questions from a wide body of
  14.                end-users.
  15.           2)   Many different people may be answering the phone.
  16.           3)   These people may not know the "product" or
  17.                "service" in great detail.
  18.           4)   Many common questions are asked frequently.
  19.           5)   The phone personnel may not know if a question
  20.                has already been solved or not.
  21.           6)   Managment needs some kind of way to track what
  22.                kinds of questions and problems end-users have.
  23.           7)   Management needs to know which problems are
  24.                unresolved so they can concentrate resources to 
  25.                solve those problems.
  26.           8)   Management needs a way to track the activity and
  27.                performance of phone personnel.

  29.      HOTNET, a PC-based multi-user shareware system, can help
  30. solve these business problems.  HOTNET is network capable and
  31. supports NETBIOS record locking.

  33.      HOTNET is designed to capture caller information to help
  34. phone personnel record and solve common problems and also to
  35. provide management with the necessary information to help make
  36. business decisions.

  38.      If you are installing the archived version of HOTNET
  39. (HN.EXE), you may unarchive the system as follows:
  40.  
  41.      1)   Create the proper subdirectory on the target hard
  42.           drive.
  43.  
  44.      2)   Make that drive/subdirectory current. 
  45.  
  46.           (ex: F:\PUBLIC> MD HOTNET     (create subdirectory)
  47.                F:\PUBLIC> CD HOTNET     (make it current)
  48.                F:\PUBLIC\HOTNET>
  49.  
  50.      3)   Insert HOTNET diskette in disk drive.
  51.  
  52.      4)   Enter the following command (assumes using drive B):

  54.                F:\PUBLIC\HOTNET> B:HN
  55.  
  56.           HN.EXE is a self-extracting version of HOTNET.  It will
  57.           extract the necessary HOTNET files and place them in
  58.           the current drive\subdirectory.
  59.  
  60.      You will install the following files:

  62.           HOTNET.EXE     HOTNET.DOC     PHONE.DBF      PHONE.DBT
  63.           PHONE1.NTX     PHONE2.NTX     PHONE3.NTX     PHONE4.NTX
