  3. There are a few things you should be aware of before
  4. using FireFighter.
  5.  
  6. The fire report does not take the place of the Provincial
  7. or State Fire report. This is a quick report for your own
  8. Departments use and information.
  9.  
  10. Make sure you have the file Help.cfg in the same directory 
  11. FF.exe is in.
  12.  
  13. The program will automatically upper case for you.
  14. This means you can use upper or lower caps and have the
  15. program change everything for you or you can Capitalize as
  16. you want.
  17.  
  18. The only place it will not capitalize for you is in the
  19. comment sections of your reports.
  20.  
  21. When you start up the program by typing FF at the DOS prompt
  22. you will find some Sample records to experiment with.
  23.  
  24. You will have to DELETE or RENAME all these records BEFORE
  25. you start to Enter any of your own.
  26.  
  27. These records are:
  28.  
  29. Practice.rpt ------ Practice Reports
  30. Fireinf.rpt  ------ Fire Reports
  31. Maint.rpt    ------ Maintenance Records
  32. Roster.dat   ------ Roster Records
  33. Roster.ndx   ------ Index of Roster Records
  34. RosterP.dat  ------ Roster Printout
  35. Case2.rpt    ------ Training Records

  37. If you want to keep these records as Samples then just run
  38. Sample.bat and it will rename the files for you.

  41. If you want to Delete these files then run GetRid.bat
  42. This batch file will delete the proper files so that you can
  43. start entering information.
  44.  
  45. Now you can restart FF and start to enter your records.
  46.  
  47. Start with the Roster Records and Enter the name of the Chief
  48. followed by the other ranks. Asst. Chief, Captain, etc.
  49.  
  50. Make sure your spelling is correct as this could cause a
  51. problem with finding records later on.
  52.  
  53. Be sure to fill the record using the same format as the
  54. Sample records.
  55.  
  56. Please read the  file FIREROST.DOC!
  57.  
  58. Get all your records entered the way you like and after you
  59. order the Registered version of this program, you can copy the
  60. Registered Version right over the Unregistered Version.
  61.  
  62. Please make a Backup copy of your directory first in case of
  63. mistakes.
  64.  
  65. If you are using a Floppy disk A: or B: then make a diskcopy
  66. of the program before using it.
  67.  
  68. Then you will have a spare copy if anything goes wrong.
  69.  
  70. The FireFighter program will continue to be expanded and made as easy to work
  71. with as possible.

  73. If there are any serious bug reports in the version of FireFighter
  74. you have registered, you will receive an updated version as soon as possible.
