- In VIEW, you also can EDIT your database. Essentially,
- it works like this: use the cursor keys or click the
- scroll bar arrows to move to a file position. Once you
- are at the Record you need to edit, click the EDIT key
- (or press 'E'). Press ESCAPE or click the EXIT pushbutton
- to get back to VIEW. In VIEW, You can click and drag the
- scroll button up and down to get to a relative file
- position. Alternately, you can choose a record by entry
- of a record number.
- ---------------------------------------------------------
- Alternate methods abound: the screen bottom is filled
- with pushbuttons. For instance, to get to the File Bottom
- (Record 1), you can Click FIRST, Press 'F', drag the
- scroll button to the bottom, Click the Down Arrow several
- times, or use the Down Cursor Key. Whew!
- ---------------------------------------------------------
- By the way, the File BOTTOM is Record 1, not the other
- way around. Why? Think of the records as being stacked up
- as several sheets of paper, with the last page (on top)
- as the last record you put in place. The Very First Record
- is at the bottom of the pile. When you want to add a new
- record, Click (choose) LAST, and click the UP arrow to
- get to LAST + 1, which is an empty record. Fill it in,
- and if this were a real stack, you would put it at the
- top -- not stuff it underneath the bottom page.
- ---------------------------------------------------------
- To EDIT, click (choose) EDIT or 'E'. You can use the
- cursor keys to cycle through the records, or you point to
- the desired record and click. The record which will then
- be edited is shown in RED. Now just type your data. Field
- 4 and Field 7 are used as a special case -- common
- spelling files. Field 7 is used as CONDITION. Just Click
- the desired condition or, use the cursor keys to cycle
- and press ENTER. In Field 4, YOU MUST USE THE MOUSE to
- Click the desired entry. More in the manual about this.
