- New Features Found in SolveIt! version 4.2
-
- This describes SOME of the NEW FEATURES found in
- version 4.x that were not in version 3.0/3.1.
-
- In general there is a new user interface. You can now go back and
- edit any input values prior to the calculation being made. Also,
- the help system is MUCH more detailed. There is a separate help
- window for each and every input. The help system also discusses
- financial concepts. (The interface change was made with 4.0)
-
- Where applicable SolveIt! now supports up to 8 payment and 8
- compounding periods. Payment and compounding can be set
- separately. Periods supported are: Daily, Weekly, BiWeekly,
- Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually, and Annually. (The Interest
- Due Routine also supports simple interest and continuous
- compounding.)
-
- In the loan routines, you can select Payment in Arrears (normal)
- or Payment in Advance (lease).
-
- The amortization table supports Normal, Rules-of-78's, U.S. Rule,
- Interest Only and Fixed Principal.
-
- The table shows totals for the year (either calendar or fiscal)
- as well as totals from the origination date of the loan.
-
- The user can set the payment to be any amount. This allows a
- schedule with a balloon payment to be produced.
-
- Random extra payments of different amounts can be applied to
- principal on any payment due date.
-
- There is a summary window that will summarize the loan to any
- payment period. This summary will show the interest saved as the
- result of extra payments.
-
- There are now schedules for future value, present value and
- annuity payout.
-
- Interest rates may be adjusted on any payment date (loans) or any
- deposit date (Future Value).
-
- The deposits amounts can be adjusted in the future value schedule
- and present value of a series.
-
- In the annuity withdrawal routine, the withdrawals can be
- automatically increased by an inflation factor. This is
- appropriate when planning for retirement income and you wish to
- keep the same purchasing power throughout.
-
- Schedules can be saved as a text file so that you can later edit
- the results (bold face etc.) or load them into your word
- processor to include in a report.
-
- Version 4.2 add the Bond Routines i.e. Yields and Values. These
- routines are unique when compared to other bond calculators in
- that they allow you to optionally factor in taxes and/or inflation.
-
